Skimmed an artex room a few weeks ago and got a call to say it's failed. Went over and 3 walls are fine...one wall is blown at a height from my bellybutton to chest right across the wall and it's totally blown springing about an inch off the wall...bottom is solid and so is the top....anyone got any ideas? Only thing I could think was a sofa against the wall and someone sat smoking all the time with their arm on the back of sofa. I'm over tomorrow to grit and Saturday to skim:( .I'm gutted that it failed not had anything like this so far. Was no nicotine stains on the wall but they only bought it at Xmas so probably recently painted

Has paint come away with the skim that’s failed?

Tapped on all the other walls and their solid and other than a strip around 60-70cm that wall seems solid....a bit baffled

Your guess sounds valid to me. For it to leave the wall so much sound like it’s hanging on delaminated paint.
I’ve had some nasty jobs with heavy smokers before. Pre grit is the only way.

I think the middle is just kind of being held on cos the top and bottom are solid and it's holding it in place.....it's not even cracked lol, just not on the wall

On a more positive note I’m currently in the gym pumping my juiced up muscles ready for a night out down sheff next month just in case I bump into @zombie

Lucky for me she's a nice woman so not giving drama about it just happy I got no problem fixing it for free ( which of course I would as not her fault)

Yeah it's no hassle fixing, just felt a mug as I couldn't explain it, had all her new carpet and everything down so felt sorry for her

Is it exterior wall . I,ve had similar down to cold . It was againt garage . Awesome customer got a rad put on other side while it was redone

What did you prime the walls with? Did you do it or the customer?
I did it just a strong pva mix and john its the internal wall between lounge and dining room...did the other room as well but that wasn't artex

@Lodan it happens mate... dont beat yourself up over it... it is soul destroying but it happens :D

I have walked over a few of my ceilings in the past...

Customers are happy if youve gone round to have a look...... then pull her nickers off and slip it it in mate.... you know it makes sense. (y)

gutted for u,,,,it happens,,,,check the sun angle if you can,,,

yip it was me.by the way guys it was sunlight that blew my wall.

so was it that the sun hit it when it was drying or at a later date? Very interesting... I would take a put that it was when it went on the wall as then it would dry out too quick and not bond properly to the wall

I’ve had plaster fall off walls everyone has if there honest
Always said to Lodan something will happen one day all can do is our best

Could have been both but sun gubbed it as i suspected,,,, look back in my thread uni fail.to anyone who said this was rubbish ,well the sun can dry skims out too quickly.

No Pete wasn't uni just normal multi...took the wall off today and done it with grit, to be honest the whole wall came off without to much of fight so don't know.....about the bottom meter was stuck on well
