has anyone actually skimmed onto tiles using bond it? without bonding first.

Yes Steve I,ve skimmed over tiles a few times, I,m a big fan of Knauf betakontakt which comes in 20kg tubs for £50, I use it on artex, tiles or any other "iffy" surfaces.

This is exactly the same product as wickes bonding agent which costs about £13 for a 3kg tub.

I only ever use bonding coat to level out when theres any deviation greater than 4-5mm and use board finish cos multi hangs around for ages, I let the first coat really pull in cos you can see all the grout lines after first coat, second coat then goes on using only slightly less mix than used on first coat.

I trowel second coat up with as little water as possible because too much leaves you with bleedin blisters which can take ages before they will trowel out. ;)

Answer to question is what Chriss has said it is the only way to go dont use PVA IN THIS SITUATION

Yeah the one by me doesn't stock it either, but there is another wickes that stocks it not too far away,
this is a much bigger store though.

Where can you buy that knauf betakontakt stuff then i've never seen it?
:)

Yes you can get Betakontakt from Travis Perkins but there tossrs for not having prices on anything, I play them and tell them I was quoted less over the phone, I paid £53 for the last 20 kg tub and I bet I could pay less if I try it on next time
