Just wondering if anyone could help out.im going on an interview for a plastering job with a local school system and was wondering what questions I may be asked pertaining to the job.any help would be greatly appreciated.

:RpS_laugh:
I would imagine it would be like any other interview. whats your skills, experience, whats your strengths/weaknesses. Do some research on the company thats employing you..........Good luck.............:RpS_thumbup:

Interview for plastering WTF :RpS_laugh:
Schools-They might want to check & see if your on the S.O register :RpS_unsure:

Only jokin good luck though mate :RpS_thumbup:

As with all interviews..... Answer honestly and be positive (If they take you on and find out that you are not like you say.... you will soon be found out).

I am guessing that there will be a lot of questions about skills and talents - experience and learning speed to new skills and training - commitment and availability

Don't forget to think about some questions to ask them as well!

Don't be shy, be confident! Look them in the eye and mean everything you say!

Good Luck!

(oh - and come back on here and tell us all about it....... we are like one big family on here!)

Come on guys - this is a young guy has had the guts to come on here and ask a sensible question.....

100% respect for coming on here and asking - you should get the opportunity just for coming on TPF and doing the research!!

Well done....

how will you cope in a hostage situation, for example when you come face to face with the first customer that wont pay you ,will the tear gas fired by the swat team upset you, bearing in mind that's nothing to getting an eyeful of plaster, will the gentile ,comical banter upset you on sites, have you applied for your local Samaritans telephone number business card, naturally this is as vital as your handboard, must be carried with you at all times, do you drink alcohol ,always answer yes, what are your feelings /resentments/deep burning issues towards bricklayers/electricians /firemen, think carefully when asked this question, try not to spit and swear as you talk, do you carry a gun in your tool bag, are you ready to meet the public ,oh you will all happy smiling very gratefull customers, who will give you all the respect you need and surprisingly they never query the bill , as you get more and more established people will stop and stare and point at you in the street ,that's him they will say in hushed tones, shaking ,hes a plasterer

In my mind everyone need 6 foundations to build on..

1 good time keeping
2 initiative
3 respect
4 keen
5 resilience
6 hard working

if you possess all of above everything else can be taught.

Good Luck!!

Just thought of somethings you may be asked.

How would you react to a 16yr old screaming and shouting in your face because you have asked him or her to do something they don't want to do ?

How would you deal with disruptive students ie tom foolery etc ?

A student comes to you and says they are being bullied what would you do ?

9- Commen sense lads u cant be taught that, it even dosnt matter if u cant read, right or spell or even add up. Working in a trade and with money ull soon get to grips with sums when ur owed a wage lol. I remember going for an interview when i was 16 for a massive firm. After various questions he asked me if i was and internal or external plasterer?............. (awkward silence) then i replied is that a trick question, i can do all 4 walls in a living room and bead and skim the chimney brest! :RpS_laugh: it still haunts me to this day. I never got the job but still pursued my carear as a plasterer. 13 years later when i see the ***** drive past in there vans i feel like getting out the van and landing him 1 right on the chin but that wouldnt be professional of me now would it.

what is the point in teaching the young person? you are just leading them into a false perception that there will be a form of employment for them.
my own grandson spent 3 years at collage learning to be a bricklayer, he has never laid a brick in employment. he found work at sainsburys 16 hours a week unable to pay his rent.

when i served my apprenticeship , 1963, a plasterer was the highest paid work in the buildind ind.
i know i still earn a living out of it , but there are now a hundred of ways to earn a better living,
young people should have a good look around because they will spend the same amount of hours at work as with the person they marry.

Come on Lordy how do you know he's young eh? :flapper:

His Names Harley88 so if he was born in 88 that makes him 25, so he should've been plastering for 9 years now, so he shouldn't be worried about any questions thrown at him from anyone if he knows his trade. :RpS_wink:

Also how do you know he isn't the interviewer fishing for questions? :-0 :RpS_unsure:

Sticking up for him just cause you wanna sell him some aquapanel ffs lol :RpS_biggrin:

If he needs help though we are here to help :-)
