Plasterers get less money

Plenty of money to be made plastering. Just need the right jobs. When I spray ocr. 500 would be a bad day. But it's like anything else have a good week s**t week. I make more than the other trades mentioned as my mates work at them.

Plastering is G**

Brickies my way getting £1 a brick. Spoke to a builder who will pay a chippy £280 a day......fed up with "wood butchers " ...so the free market economy is beginning to work.......until the next trough......

The image is getting better but you only have to look on faceache and you cans see why the trade gets a bad name...

luckily TPF takes a bit of brain power to get in and we weed out the idiots :D
Some of the postings here aren't helping the image of the trade.. This a showcase for trade knowledge. Helping each other with tools and materials ect. And a little fun to but some here need reminding that customers look here to.

I find if I am on day work you don't make money it's just wages I do well on price work you get out what you put in and I don't believe standers have to drop on price I have seen some pretty bad work done by day work plasterer to I find a lot of the younger spreads I meet these days are pot heads one I worked with lateley told me it was all he could think about

Depends on the day rate and the price , better off on price generally but lots of jobs are never properly ready

Went and had a look at a build my mate is doing (his own house) and the "plasterer" is pants.... proper rough but he said he was working from 0730 - 20:00 every day and only wanted £100..... how real plasterers can compete with that... yes it looks rough but a good painter will make it look ok...

My heart sunk

Troupet filler and dustless sander. Bang on the paint. Not how it should be. I seen a job where painter charged £100 per room labour.. Cheap prices and rough work in both trades..

I just gave a guy an estimate for taking a wall back to brick, dry lining and skimming. I said prob about £500 . He thinks that too dear and I got the feeling he was annoyed by my price. But I've got to drive 40mins there and then back again as well take the old plaster off and bag it, time spent keeping the place clean before boarding and skimming etc. So it's definitely the case that someone else will do that cheaper but that doesn't make me wrong imo. I wish everyone would be kinder to themselves then people would expect to pay for work like they expect to with other trades

Labour and materials and getting rid of the rubbish included ,? Not too dear , not cheap but it's hard graft

Nope I never get rid of rubbish. Yes mats and labour. Yes it's not cheap but not unreasonable or greedy either, that's certainly not who I am. If it was closer it might be a little less but I know the route and traffic horrendous.

Someone once told me years ago, never be known for being cheap. Be known for being good. And I thought, sound advice

How you manage that? I mean not getting rid of the rubbish? I always do, not a bad earner in some cases either
