If you planning to use Micro Internally I'd contact Parex technical first to check it's ok to use over painted surfaces etc. Just because someone else used it because its all they had in the back of the van doesn't mean it's suitable.

BondIt pre grit is good stuff, you can get 20 litres from R&J for £36.

What is there to ask? Put it on. Let it dry. See if it scrapes off the paint. If it doesn't surely its good to go.

Adcar if you want to go down that route im pretty sure bg wouldn't recommend using bond it pre grit. Only their own bonding agent

Thats besides the point. You said speak to parex. But surely they'd say no just to cover their backs.

I always use products for what they are specified for if you want to start chucking any old stuff on the wall up to you but don't think it's wise to advise others to do the same.

I got notified ( I,m guessing here ) about -15-20 years back by BG, that they no longer recommended using PVA, and instead you should use Bont It, of course they make bond it so go figure, I tried passing the cost on to the customer..ie. price of the gear and the application time, drying out time etc, then you get someone pricing with PVA, which does as good a job ( almost ) and its a big price difference.. bond it is a good product, but have had no problems with PVA either... I call it unibond and skim..lol..

Exactly. I can see what adcar is saying but at the end of the day unless you are using bg bonding agent. Bg boards. Bg scrim bg screws and bg skim you won't get any backing should any part fail.

we need a fail section.
just to see whos jobs have failed and why?
because the only jobs iv seen fail have been poor rendering jobs and one job i tried putting pva in the mix for skimming a ceiling:RpS_blushing:

Just had a butchers on the data sheet for pre grit and nowhere does it mention that it can be used over paint.

The Wickes bonding agent is supplied by knauf so would be very useful if they supplied them the larger size tubs as well as the proxy 3litre ones.

Thanks, looks like I will save money as I usually buy 10 tubs of WBA. Plus it looks like you can use a roller in those big tubs which will also save time.
I love this forum. :RpS_cool:
