Plastering advice and hello

hello everyone, I'm new here and seeking help. I've been plastering part-time for 2.5 years and recently encountered an issue. I skimmed a ceiling with roll-on Artex, applied two coats of PVA, and worked hard to get it smooth. However, the plaster started sagging in the last corner, and when I investigated, the entire 15ft x 13ft plaster ceiling came off, leaving the Artex intact! I'm baffled why the plaster didn't adhere. I've successfully skimmed many Artex ceilings before. Any guidance would be appreciated!

that’s the thing you don’t know what the artex is stuck to I’ve only had one fail and that’s because the artex had been laid over f**k**g wallpaper I didn’t scrape as it was a a minimal pattern that wasn’t thick as went over first coat with a zombie mix,you could give the ceiling a good clean with sugar soap and use a grit before skimming but even then it’s not guaranteed personally if it fails like this first time round always best to overboard it

@John j The poor lad was last seen using an MT stainless for everything.
I'm using mine as a remote control for the TV, I might have some toast later.

Everybody used to, as well as slapping it.
@ChrispyUK has all that voice activated s**t at his gaff, he talks to his taps.
I used to enjoy throwing them out of hotel windows tbh. Back in the 80s when they were heavy and I thought I was cool and rock n roll.
Thankfully these days are over and I don't even own one now, wouldn't look right amongst all the artwork and antiques anyway, not to mention the view !
I would never consider talking to one though, just asking for trouble that is mate (y)
