Plastering over metal beam and problem areas

Hi all, helping my father with some renovations and need advice prepping for plastering around some door openings he’s had put in. I’ve done a fair amount of plastering on my own house but I’m not a professional. These are probably stupid questions but any advice would be appreciated!

First question is there is a smooth powder coated metal beam with holes in it above an entrance way, pictures attached. Can I apply bonding plaster directly to this?

Second is the hollow areas around the door frame where the brick has been crudely cut out - big enough to fit your hand in in places, can I just fill these with bonding to pack it out?

There’s lots of different materials that meet at slightly different levels, my plan is just to level all that out with bonding and then scrim between the bonding and ENT existing plaster before skimming the whole thing in one go.

Any pointers appreciated, thanks now advance.

Yes, you are perfectly correct, these are stupid questions.
What you should do is get a plasterer in to do the work.

Cut back any hollows in existing plaster and small bits of plaster at ceiling line.
Plasterboard over any timber
Fill in large cracks with bonding.
PVA metal lintel
Apply tight coat to metal lintel
Use Bonding plaster to get it all flush with existing work.
Bead up around opening
PVA the whole wall then skim it.
Then turn off the TV and watch the plastered wall crack around repairs.
That screw is not fixing anything.

Depends how long it is

Lad once putting a fixing in a wall. Was only partition wall upstairs in a house. He used massive Hilti T-6 SDS long 8mm bit and all this red bits of material started coming out through the hole he was drilling
Had gone through wall and into stand alone wooden wardrobes in next room and was pulling through woman’s best red dress from it

Once on a job and other plasterer said look in wardrobe . I opened wardrobe saw this fury thing in bottom. Instantly shut doors and asked what the f**k is that. Thought it was a animal. He was pissing his sen. Was a big wig . Customer was a bald guy but didn't ask questions

I don't like to laugh at others misfortunes but stuff like this you can't help ye sen
Best one, 3 apprentices taking down lath and plaster ceiling.
Went up attic hatch, kick down ceiling from. above.
Problem was they kicked through ceiling of next do, open attic.
Did not end well, 2 sacked not for mistake but for laughing when explaining what they did.
