right lads im off to NZ on sunday for 6 weeks, our lass's dad is a project manager for fletchers out there (former joiner, now full time pen pusher) he will be taking me around a few sites and what not just to have a look and get a feel to what its like out there and how they work and what they work with.

i will be taking some pics and what-not, asking some questions so if anyone wants to know any specifics stick them here and i'll try and find out for you.

its mainly drylining, rendering and T&J no plastering, but im sure some of you lot will be curious to know what its like over/down/up or whichever way it is there.

dont want to come across as braggin but its a chance for me to give something back to the forum i suppose, seeing as you guys helped me out with a few things in the past.

we come back in april so, i'll try and get on while im there but if not i will update when i get back.

cheers, lads

if the solid rendering is anything like in oz its a highly skilled way of rendering.yhey do it in one coat very thick and rule/scrape straight back to green material and rub up no beads all hand done.a good and i mean good spread could do about 40m2 a day

Fair play mac anything to do with the rendering would be interesting and do the dry liners do everything or is it like over here one tacks on dabs etc ....fair play mate I'd clean boots to live over there......find out what shoe polish they use lol

When i worked in Ozz in the early 80s bricklaying our block work had to be spot on as the spreads charged by the millimetre for any dubbing out not sure if its the same standards now but it was then.

the interiors are done by different crews ie boarding then finishing.there boards are long 5meters by 2 meters and only screw at skirt joint and ceiling and glue everywhere else so screws dont show/pop,also only one join along middle and corners makes it very quick.all coved aswell.

thet do a lot of one coat renders and acrylics

im interested in what the rendering is like down under and the boarding is gonna be the same really and seeing i wanna move to oz i need to understand how they work down there

they use 6mx1.2m boards here in oz walls and ceilings i herd there are guys using mp75 out there in NZ . i met a german plasterer who worked there he said they spray the mp on rule it up then trowel a 1mm coat of some other gypsum plaster over the top reckons it was quicker than trying to finish the mp and was a better finish.....kiwis are mustard aye bro :)

They do that in Spain

If its hard enough the same day otherwise the next its hard to explain but this stuff is realy fine so you actualy skim the hollows and rough bits out with it where needed not always the whole wall bit like easy fill.

yeah that sounds like the same gear we used in perth me and the boss man put on to much MP75 with no windows in the house and got caught out next day he brought in this bag real fine plaster we got shite loads of metres out of a bag and it almost troweled up smooth we just went over it with an electric drywall sander same day to touch it up looked mint when painted
