I genuinely believe that the internet as done much damage to the rates of tradesmen!

its just all to easy and inpersonal for people to get 20 quotes for a poxy 2 day job in less than 10mins and play the cost game!

and its only going to get worse as the generations now leaving school have fuckal social skills and will eventualy all just be quoted from online pics that are uploaded to emails.

the first you will get to see the job and person will be on the start date!

remember I said it first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:RpS_cursing:

when we give a quote for work in france it is done with photos sent by email we do not do site visits.

that's fine malc and makes sense its when they live on same street on you though and your just given photos via email that's going to be the thing.

Eventualy pricing will become like buying something off ebay ie customer post pics of jobs next 100 trades start bidding!!!

would be funny if it wasn't so scarey!!!:RpS_cursing:

Do that already on certain jobs marra :RpS_unsure:

where do thes sites get their prices from to make comparisons ??
here's one of their statements
"If you take and average 12 x 11 front room and ask a decorator to strip and re paper the walls he is likely going to bill you in the region of £300 which is more or less what a local plasterer will charge you for skimming the walls of an average front room. The main difference of course is that the plasterer turns out a far higher quality of finish than a decorator can on old walls.Next time you have a build or decorating project give some consideration to getting the plasterers in if you are really looking for a better quality of finish to your walls and ceilings."

is the "more or less" like 800 more or 150 less ??
******* winds me up lol

@Nisus You told me that was the going rate for the door reveal! :RpS_sneaky:

I'm beginning to wonder if you've been spinning me a yarn? I'm off to Google some materials prices, and if I find that the beads are less than £50:00 each and a bag of skim isn't £75:00 I'm not going to be happy!

Is that why you have to use a 'special' glue for them instead of nails, screws or skim/bonding/dab?
