Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

;D ;D ;D
thats why i mentioned site painters... its only when they get together theyll come up with something to moan about..

Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

Painters!!! they dont go out of their way to be awkward but probably get pizzed off when they have extra filling etc to do because of genuine bad plastering.
as regards to no key on the surface thats their problem. (as it is ours before plastering) They are sposed to prep a surface before painting it, i cant see a site manager pulling you and saying you need to trowel less hard, what happens if his doors are too smooth to paint all we have to do is provide a seamless finish with no abrupt changes in flatness or marks of any sort. balls to the painters let them find their own way to make more money

hit the nail smack bang on the head that post..
everyone in a finish trade has prepwork, its all in the prep, fail to prepare - prepare to fail....
good shout..

Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

Painters don't want to do any preparation anymore. I learnt my trade as a decorator back in the 80's and there was always preparation before painting. Nowadays, half the decorators I come across don't even use sandpaper. They start crying if they have to get the filler out.

Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

its always caused arguments, always will i reckon..
goes right back to the 'any c'nt, some c'nt an no c'nt' joke...
same with the chippies and painters...
painters say the chippies should fill any nail holes, screw holes, splits etc...
chippies say its a painters job...
its like asking bricklayers to throw an sbr slurry over their blockwork...
when youve got tackers and skimmer on site, who beads up?

Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

end of the day, being sensible about it everyone should do their own prep, its part of your job and the most important part at that..
expecting the trade before to do it is takin the p'ss and asking for trouble, youll only end up doing it properly yourself so whats the point?
that said, I always like to think of myself as being fair in that respect as I'll try and spare a thought for the trade following, like the sparks...
not like many of em do for us though...
::)
no good playing eye for an eye.. all that suffers is the end result..

Re: PLASTIC SKIMMING TROWEL

really? I thought that these trowels were new on the market, so new in fact that refina havent even got a link on their website?
bit random isnt it? new member, 1 post, straight in the controversial thread regarding bandwagon advertising..
might as well just delete your post, you must think the mods are bleedin stupid...
and considering youre not a spread, using the term 'cats faces' only usually used by old school spreads just makes you look about as genuine as a chinese rolex..
