Different thing but the Gardai were pulled up for falsifying breathalisers recently. They had a target of so many tested per day/week/whatever but no time to do it in addition to their normal police duties, so the sergeant was sitting at the desk breathalising himself multiple times per night.
Different thing but it's still sweeping things under the carpet that's inconvenient.
The care homes were doing the same thing, banking on the kids coming back on Monday morning when they went missing each weekend instead of moving heaven and earth to find them...

Rightly so. There needs to be a culture in the police of standing up and saying 'Sorry, we don't have the resources' instead of hiding inadequacies.

One description of any set of circumstances won't fit all of them but the fact remains that by and large, police investigations were hampered by difficult children who often saw themselves as being adventurous, having difficult boyfriends and not wanting to bubble their dealer.
We're not talking about paedos who've managed to win the trust of parents or kidnapped kids.

I can't find it now, but if you find anything to do with the people who work in that field, then you'll see just how difficult investigations actually are to conduct for the reasons that I outlined earlier.
Kids who aren't happy at home, either because it's a s**t home or they're just tearaways. Doing runners and not wanting to be found, thinking it's cool to have older boyfriends who have drugs and not engaging with the police even if they are found.
In a nutshell, there were a lot of people who knew what was going on but didn't feel resourced or able to do anything about it - it's very difficult to investigate anything at all if the victim won't tell you anything.
I can't find what I was looking for but I'll post it if I do.

You obviously didn't watch the video he made from outside the court. He did not go on the court steps. He asked a policeman outside the court if it was contempt of court if he stood on the steps. The policeman told him that it would be, so Robinson said he would not stand outside the court but not on the steps and the police on duty on the steps let him continue to make his video. Some other police officers were hanging around a police van parked along the road. I think they had turned up after Robinson had spoken to the police that were on the steps. These other officers approached Robinson and said they were arresting him for breach of the peace. This was later dropped and then he was charged with contempt of court. It was a case of ignorance of the law which is obviously is no excuse.
The day he was arrested was the day of the verdicts. The jury had already made their decisions the day before.
Anyway, it looks like all the demonstrations and fuss made about Robinson's arrest has meant that the government finally have to be seen to be doing something about the grooming gangs so maybe some good will come out of it, m8s?

My mate's daughter is probably a really good candidate.... she's 17, I think. Too old to ground and too young to throw out. She goes out and gets into trouble every night and it flares up with a depressing regularity... her coming home with a black eye and whatever toerag she's with at the time getting one off him.... bear in mind that this is a North Manchester Council estate and it can escalate to hatchets and hammers pretty darn quick.
He can't understand that shoving cocaine up your nose every night at your mate's house really isn't a very good strategy when it comes to dealing with this s**t - and I'm not unkind enough to tell him that by the time it's got to this stage, the damage has been done years ago.

Here's a full explanation of the ins and outs of it by a barrister. Turns out the court steps is largely an irrelevance. Shouting 'dirty PakiPaedos' at defendants who were subject to a postponement order was more of an issue, unfortunately for poor Brave Tommy.
