Problems with k rend

Does anyone know how to avoid this or what i doing wrong. Doing a krend job hp12 basecoated everywhere. Tight coated first pass top coat then second pass. Ruled of with a serrated edge and spatted down and then there is air pockets forming in a lot of places and wont come out. Left it overnight and then when came back the air pockets have dropper and created a crack above it looks horrible. Is there anyway to avoid this am i laying on too thick or do i need to push the top coat harder to the wall?
 
I use to get this when the mix was a little too wet but I'm doing a full house at the mo on top of hpx first pass serrated then leave a little while then second coat then rule again I leave it open for a bit then spat were using white ft
 
so do you use the serrated edge on the first pass?

Sounds like a lack of mechanical key in the first pass, so it's slumping under the weight, or could be applying to thick in the second pass, it's guess work with out seeing it.
 
We used to get this with ft and found our problem was putting too much water or not mixing the material properly.
In the end we bought a pan mixer which could mix 5 bags a time and let it mix for ten minutes with 5 litres of water per bag .

The key is to get water content exactly right and leave it otherwise the silicone and other properties in the material wont disperse into the mix ,
when its mixed right its just like hardwall to use and you wont get air pockets as the pan mixer or drill is a forced action mix allowing air to entrain the mix,
Tumble mixers are fine for k1 but not so good for the ft silicone .
 
were doing one at the mo full house in ft not really had any problems if like said you give it a good mix up it's good to go jobs in timperly are you from round that way Craig

Yeah I know it, if you get a Krend job in for a builder use K1, £8.30 a bag from penlaw and is mikes better than FT, much lighter to use and holds together well as I find FT just falls apart

I agree never use ft as it’s shite!! If you have to hand ball it on use k1

sounds to me like you have used hp12 on a low suction background rather than hpx meaning your scratch coat dont have the necessary suction
 
Had this happen before its a royal pain in the arse. Mixing the gear thoroughly twice helps a lot and don't spat it straight away after ruling.
