Had lunch at pub Friday. First time since wotsit. Forgot how expensive it is . £120. Four of us plus the dog .
 
Pubs need to sort themselves out or will face ruin...people been drinking aldi price beer for 12 months won't fancy £4.50 plus @ pint min (northwest )

Trouble is, a lot of publicans are forced to pay extortionate rents to brewing companies and/or forced to buy their beer from that brewing company (again, at an extortionate rate). There was an eye-opening BBC mini-series on this, with Tom Kerridge, a few months back. These big brewing companies don't give a fuk - they just keep greedily screwing their publicans until the publicans go out of business. The brewing companies will extract maximum profit from publicans, for as long as they can get away with it, and when the publicans go out of business, the brewing companies remain in business selling their beer through various other channels and outlets.

Due to recent changes, the law is supposed to allow publicans to get out from underneath these grossly unfair anti-competitive contracts, but the trouble is it can be too difficult to successfully get out of them until it's too late and the business goes under.
 
I've lost interest in the pub as well. Because I've got used to using my man cave. But the wife thinks when the pubs open fully . That all four wheels will fall off the wagon at once. And I'll go mental. :frio: :boxeador::descansando:

Exatly m8 pubs were bad before pandemic the lock downs have destroyed the pubs. Everbody stuk in rut when things get back to normal. Ther going to be like churches closing down one by one. And you might get the od one still open but as they say all good things come to end! And that so true
 
Everyone was going to leave the pubs on mass when it got to one pound a pint and the same will happen when it gets to £10
 
Same round here mate there’s only three left now that do brilliant food too but it’s gonna cost , taking my mrs and mum and dad at 1pm I budgeted £150,nothing isn’t cheap anymore

Trick them say pubs shut and go KFC family bucket and 2 litre of coke and av a picnic in van £30 tops! :ROFLMAO:
 
The pub life is a British tradition, and like most traditions there being eroded away for one reason or another and times change.
When I started out a pint after work was a great social networking tool, particularly on a late Friday afternoon half the towns trades were in, now I don't know many that go for a pint after work, we all lead busy lives now, trends change I guess people don't drink as much and are more health conscious even than 20 years ago or drink at home. I rarely drink these days as I packed heavy drinking in years ago, more on a social pint these days,but I paid £5.40 for a Guinness on Friday which doesn't help,

ye must've known what the cost was going to be before ye committed to purchase and now you're on here like fkin facebook whining about it
if ye don't fkin like it stay at home eating ye Lidl lasagne and drinking ye Poundshop plonk

Exatly m8 It was beginning of the end before the pandemic. I think it the end after the pandemic. It going to be
