1.2 bags of cement
3.72 bags of sand
Thats for 10mm thick
Arti how is that 4:1?
And Bob why 4:1 inside? That's very strong.
Dug out some stuff from college and the proportion of volume table( yes , very technical) gives you the proportions for 100m2 and the 4:1 section gives the quantities of 0.93 cubic meters of sand or 37.2 bags and the cement quantity of 12 bags for 10mm thick render then i just worked out for 10m2.........i get the feeling you think what i wrote is incorrect??
I very rarely use sand out of bags but I'd say that the volume of a bag of cement is greater than that of a bag of sand. Most guys I've spoken to on site regarding ratios regard a bag of cement as equal to three shovelfuls.
I've used that ratio as the basis for rendering, both internal and external and screeding.
Hello im having trouble quoting for a render job im need to know how to work out materials if i was mixing at a ratio of 4:1! thanks
Only 10 m2 internal wall
i would have thought that a shovel full would vary more than a bag of something or a bucket full.
i would have thought that a shovel full would vary more than a bag of something or a bucket full. i can only go off what the information sheet says, whether that same sheet of information is used in the majority of training establishments i cant say

Andy I work externals pretty much all the time now and I do it the exact same as you. We get a 20tonne delivery every month or so but we use 14shovels to a bag of cement in the first coat. To keep the top coat mix the same colour we measure everything in level buckets now.You would think so but they rarely differ greatly in reality. And that's from one labourer to another. On site you just don't have time for gauge boxes or buckets, you've just got a twenty ton load of sand and a couple of pallets of dust to use as quickly as possible.
For a 4:1 mix I'd use twelve shovelfuls of sand to a bag of dust.
Not saying you're wrong Arti just saying how I and most I've seen on site work.
Your ratios all depends on the size of your buckets tbh1 bag of cement = 1.5 buckets
1 bag of sand = 1.75 buckets
You want about 6:1 rendering inside
1.5 x 6 = 9 / 1.75 = ~ 5.3
So in summary to make a 6:1 mix you need five and a bit bags of sand to one cement.
Don't forget the frock when you're lashing it on.

How, when the bucket used is the same size lol?
If you measured it in thimbles the ratio would be the same if you used the same thimble.:RpS_laugh:

Smart arse. What im saying is the buckets i use, you would be lucky to get just over one full bucket
Aye ok mate, name calling from behind your screen. If u seen me face2face you wouldnae be so fu king braveSmarter than you, ******* moron. I'm talking about normal buckets, but that's immaterial. I put underneath how many cement he'd need to sand.
Exactly my point mateDeano , calm down mate ,its Danny Mac, he'll put his flowery. frock on and come after you,and you don't want that, after all its only sand and cement measures,:RpS_scared: no place for keyboard warriors in here lol

Then be very careful when you are eating a sausage sarney .:RpS_biggrin:What if you've got sausage fingers.............:RpS_confused:
