What's the best method to re artexing two ceilings I did yesterday I've done random swirls but she wants the swirls in a line so I need to reartex
Can some shed something on this thanks ps I need to get these done tomoz thanks

Artex is done random, apart from the comb patterns.. so you did it right, sounds like you did swirl.. anyway, scrape it down, should still be soft enough, then seal the ceiling well and redo it... and charge them... dont try and do it without thoroughly sealing it pal...

no, the artex shouldnt have set if he gets his finger out, takes a couple of days to go hard.... thats the artex going hard, not his nob

What if it's to hard to scrape was going to knock the big bits off then Pva then what about a tight coat of Artex let that stiffen then another coat then texture?

if its been done very recent it will scrape back fine.. if you do coat it with a tight skim of artex you will need it to dry before re doing as artex shrinks for England..

thing is if its fresh and you overskim it pva will turn it to mush so you might as well scrape it and start fresh

it will be fine to scrape back, but set enough for the PVA not to mush it up... should be ok, but difficult withourt actually seeing it..

Id be very careful, I'd wait for it to dry first, personally, before id do anything with it.
The moisture will still be in the artex and the board, scraping it could damage the board/tapes, and sealing it will seal the moisture in it causing you problems.

You should have scraped it off the same day while it was still wet.

Wait for it to dry then scrape, seal with artex sealer, caulk and reskim.

Sound advice.

@madmonk as beddy has said moisten and then scrape back. Luke warm water will re-emulsify the Artex very quickly and this is very unlikely to damage the board surface if done correctly. Hopefully you taped it using Fastset as that won't re-emulsify.
I took some of this crap off of a wall in my place that had been there at least thirteen years using this method.

Why not just caulk over it?
It would be a lot less messy and less effort, plus if it was only done yesterday, there will be a lot of moisture still in the boards unless it was sealed properly, even then you run the risk of damage.

Even better, tell her what you have done, with a random swirl, is the proper way of doing it and if they want it done differently they will have to pay you again ( unless they told you to start with ☺)

Un painted artex will scrape back ok even 20 year later it stinks for england as well lol

Got licensed by Artex many years ago when everyone was having it, in this timescale, scrape it back, seal it and you will have no problems with moisture. most of the moisture will have gone by now anyway, but the artex will still be ok and easy enough to scrape... when i say scrape it back, dont mean all the texture off, just flat enough to re do... you shouldnt damage the tapes.. if its an older ceiling there wont be any anyway...

Are the other rooms all in line etc or random like you have done? If there random surely your matching into them better in other rooms ? If there random and they want that room steaight its not matching and u may aswell skim in anyways ? And if they r random in other rooms you have done it right ?

Aye it does Cassie, Happened to me a few times with artex all temp or whatever crap there producing now. Like yourself, was in the game for years, smashing out big sites using suretex, wondertex and if anyone remembers nutex. Artex was probably the crappest of the lot. Summat to do with the elasticity of pva and artex being a soft compound.

yeh, used all them mate, I never had any probs with PVA though... you gotta let each coat completely dry though, maybe thats it.. good money artexing hey, earnt a fortune back in the day...

Shite rates on site, but cleaned up on domestics mate back then. Tape, seal and Cove then texture out a four bedder next day, God I couldnt even think of doing that now lol.

I could only describe it Cassie as it looks like frost has hit it and they are like small seperation cracks in the material. Mr site agent new best back then and had us applying in the minus.
