Real plasterers tradesman

Presumably still a two coat process?
Two passes like mono done straight after. Sometimes I've done one pass over good blockwork.

No scratch coat needed. Just on and gone. (On block...over old bricks you need rendaid as far as I'm aware)

Sounds like a winner to me then.

Dont seem to do as many exteriors as i used to.
Used to do a lot of roughcast here in NI but not so much now
Dry dash and K-rend but mostly just rubbing up these days.
Also done a lot of stucco work with various textures over in California.

Still just cant enjoy plastering , well i dont mind the work , its the money and all that i dont like.
Maybe im lazy but the amount of work some of them are looking for a few quid is mad , was never like this back in the day.

We definitely get the rough end of it price and wages wise here. I prefer inside float and skim anyways, but to me tends to be harder work, especially on grip, but our weather is far too unpredictable to properly enjoy outsides, I find. Not that it matters for as I work in a squad it's not me that has to take the hit if it gets water damaged. Although it's hateful standing working in the rain. Especially scraping mono back the next day, it burning the f**k out ur skin.

Are u keeping busy around your way.
yeah lad, have a few luls here and there but haven't had to travel as much, busier defo. so many fecks lookin for day works and pay a pittance and us goin like f**k all day long....
How's all in Louth? u keepin away from Dublin.. :bailando:

Aye its a madness!
I seen a load of lads last week , firing on 6-9 tubs as a 2 and 1 , just about clearing a wage
Work rough as feck too on 400k+ new builds , new squad every few houses
Its their own fault , been the same for all my life.
Plenty of work and their happy with their lot , annoys me

Its the joyz of it here. Can't get away with putting decent price in for stuff, and there is a low ceiling for wages for boys like me working in a squad. Shite but what u do. U do site work here?

No mate , too slow for site work. 15 years or more since i did a site
Easier when your younger and money was always decent on the grip , i dunno whats going on now , rates from the 90s!
Problem is nobody sticks together and has no idea what the rates are and what they should be asking for then the undercutting is rampant.
They have a skills shortage and loads of work going on but still working for feck all.
I work for small builders on a day rate and try get as many domestics as i can , money is crap but work is handy , builders dont want you clearing any more than £120 but you make it up with domestics if you can get enough of them.
