Recommendation on Rendering - K-Rend

Hi,

I'm looking to get the front of the house rendered as the pebble dash around one of the window is failing and chunck has already come away, so I'm thinking of having the front of the house rendered once my new windows goes in.

Before I embark on the project, I would like some recommendation if I may from the pros of this forum as to what rendering system I should go with and the best way of finding competent people to do it for me. I've read some real horror stories on here with other people rendering projects and I don't want to full into this trap if I can help it.

I am all for quality over pricIe, as the saying goes, pay cheap get monkeys but at the same time I don on't want to be had over.

I had someone come aound and quoted me £6400 to insulate (50mm) and K rend the front of the house just up to the DPC plinth (including painting the DPC). But one thing I've noticed from people who I had come over, they are very hesitant in confirming what materials they have priced, after all as I'm the one paying I should know exactly what is being installed, do you agree?

One query I had was on the insulation, Is it worth paying the extra money going with K5 Kingspan insulation board or could some recommend me an alternative which has a similar performance rating to the kingspan.

I've attached a picture of my house, is K=Rend EWI system suitable for my type of house or should I be exploring a different system?, and any tips finding an approved installer will also be much appreciated. I'm based in the IG11 area.

total area is about 26sqm once you take away the windows.

thanks.

ok, So what have I said wrong and why the piss take?

Having read my post back I think I did waffle on abit, think I need to stop posting at 2am in the morning.

Can a mod delete this thread if possible.

@Monkey Boy I'd appreciate if you could remove the full address from your post, I don't think there is no need for it.

thanks

Ewi is not worth it for just the front, there won't be any benefits really, plus sill extenders alterations involved in the additional,
Just get thincoat render only job done,

Quotations generally specify the product & system,
Don't expect to deduct windows from meterage for pricing, they are more expensive areas, time consuming.

Thanks Tramp for your reply (y) .

I was thinking of rendering over the top of the pebbledash as suggested, but as the pebbledash in isolated areas particularly around the windows has started cracking and falling away I thought EWI was a sensible solution so I don't have to remove all of it back to the brickwork, obviously where it has blown it will have to come off and the rest covered up with EWI.

I am getting new windows installed prior to rendering so no issues with extending the cills there.

Is this the type of system I should consider looking at instead of a insulated render solution?

Many thanks.

Hack off is best, Hack off whilst old windows are in place, I could have that done and cleaned up in a few hours,
Proper job then
