Morning puta's.

What do you guys use when putting building paper/felt or what ever it's called when cladding timber for render.

I got a render a loft conversion for a builder I work for.
They do the prep but can you use roofing membrane or is that a special membrane specific for rendering?

Cheers lads. That's what I've always used...a breathable roof membrane but noticed the word building paper/felt going around.
They still want us to rib lath and s&c finish next one but I hate that and tell him there's no guarantee from me.
The last one with eml had hairline cracks but the paint helped fill it.

I've put the thin coat system ideals into him this morning which he seemed open to.
Existing finish below is tyrolean though.
Can you do this with the thin coat systems.
Parex have EHI which is there mono for timber frames but can you get anything to give a tyrolean finish?

J green . You could always use parex maite for the base coat over carrier board with mesh sponge finish and flick over using ehi, just a thought old pal

Ise a 2 or 3mm top coat. Or if you spray use a big nozzle

OCR over stainless eml over breathable roofing felt. Did one recently no problems whatsoever, 15mm beads, pricking up coat first then top coat OCR, finish with silicone or Tyrolean OCR.

I went back today to top off some render that was s&c over rib lath over tyveck over ply. There was a hair line crack down every rib in the scratch coat. I told the builder this would happen but they said crack on. I hope it doesn't come through the top coat but I'm not holding my breath

It will for sure.i would put this in writing before you top coat it.
I don't do it any more.i have just started a large job approx 400m2.the spec was rib lath over a timber frame.i got them to change it to board and thin coat so am using the jub system.
Sand & cement will crack every time

when a metal lath wall heats up from the sunshine, the metal will expand and crack the render coat.

Yep I didn't get any cracking, but I was advised against it by Weber who said that the metal expands and contracts. My next job the render was only done a year ago onto eml and has cracked up we are hacking off and redoing will be interesting to see what the problem is.
How are going to re do it?
Sand & cement again?
