Just wondered how some lads get the opportunity to use other render manufacturers gear aside from Weber, Parex. K-rend. Is it just personal preference? is it the gear that is supplied,? Architects spec?

Cheers

the manufacture receives an architect nomination on the work, ie permaroc or mr, dryvit, ect. then they employ their trained operatives to carry out the contract.
it is run as closed shop to keep the rates workable .

I have used a few but tend to go with those that gives me no problems at an affordable price.

personal preference, architects spec, developers spec, etc.
weve used most, I have to approved to use all manufactorers as some specs they wont deviate from what im given.
I was using parex 10 years ago before they came mainstream for instance, and was one of the first to trial there parinter base render.
some become mainstream over time, others don't. were at a stage where manufactorers approach us to use there gear as obviously they want our business.

I thought you worked for Parex ?

What a load of hassle that must be, I use and keep a stock of parex gear. Its easy just rolling gear over to the next job 9 out of 10 customers will pick J20, G00 or BL10.
Easy.

I'd imagine running around the streets with a machete bonkers, not chucking a load of sample booklets in a box and letting the customer pick whichever one they want.

Each one we use has their own benefits weber being very limited on mono colours, we can get them all fairly easily so not a problem to me

Those small samples are a waste of time
I have made up some by using knauf render board around 15inch square with the render on

makes sense.. I have a krend sample book and the samples are about 1.5inches square... far too small to get a feel for the colour or texture

It is because it's down to you to advise, for instance parex have 48 colours if they can't pick one out of that. I agree they all have different characteristics, why have the additional hassle of it all using different manufacturers.

Advise what, it's not me paying and it's not my choice.

Why is it hassle? Some are finer/heavier textures, some have more flecks in, some don't quite have the colour the customer wants.

Just drop them all in front of them and let them pick, it's not really hassle, you could ring any of them and have as many bags dropped anywhere you want within 5 days, as you probably know.

It's one thing I don't get on here, you have reps for all the companies I mentioned, probably sat in a service station on the m1 wanting your business and full of advice, every rep iv spoken to fall over themselves to offer you there products (excluding weber)

Their all there and why not let them fight for your business
