Oh rite I had imagined you using silos or some thing. sound like good work, and like theres bags of it keep it up.

seems odd that its only the one wall when you did it all together. How long after you did it did the cracks take to appear?

I aint to far from Essex Andy so we do get rendering sand but a lot of the lads i know mix soft with sharp 50-50
Lucius.

About 6 months after, i dont know if it had anything to do with it but a car hit my car right outside my house and it was a right jolt smashed it right into the kurb not long after i noticed the cracks but the back of the wall is solid??? its got me baffled

I also mix some sharp with soft sand for my first coat on external renders but for internal work I get a particular type of building sand which is very clean so suffers little shrinkage, yet is nicer to work with than soft washed and always leave the rendering for at least 5 days before skimming.

I can understand about leaving render before skimming/top coating etc etc but most jobs just dont allow that to be done due to rush rush rush etc etc.

No I've never used that Church is it washed or building sand?
To be honest Richard the people I work for just want it done right and on most of the jobs there is something you can be doing whilst waiting so over all the job doesn't take any longer than just jumping straight on.

Its a washed medium sand used it a few times Colchester way seems ok, its a bit like a washed bagged plastering sand .Always seems to hold up outside wise

Yes i think it is ???, leave it with me and i will find out the name of the pit for sure , i just know it as buttbricks sand medium washed big brother will get back to you ;)

Where you from Pug? warwickshire way I reccon TP plastering sand is best dead smooth gear to work with.
Had a ton of Jewbags sand the other week did nt seem to butter up as nice in the mixer.

basingstoke, north hampshire. having said that, wickes ain't bad either at the moment.

Never had anything from wickes well only wba. But they about 15 miles away and TP is about 700 yards.

lots to choose here, jewson, tp, buildbase, wickes, and half a dozen smaller builders merchants some which sell by the quarter and half ton.

company called meakins, i think ony have 4 or 5 yards, sell it in whatever weight you want, also thier ton is 1000kg not 800 like most merchants sell it.

Sounds good what they priced like. A company local to me used to sell sand by the 1/4 ton scoop on a digger
only snag was you needed a pick up or trailer to collect it.
They stopped that now and only do bulk bags (800-1000kg).

not the cheapest! think its £46ish a ton, free delivery though, scoop with a scale on to weigh it
