craig i think u might have misheard what u were told a while back. a bricky would quite likely gauge with a bucket because theyre pointing will not get painted and therefore has to be bang on. if a plasterer chucked a bit too much water in his mix, an extra shovel of sand wont make **** all difference and ud never see it on the wall. plus it gets painted.

plus if ur a decent spread a labourer wouldnt keep up gauging with buckets

Maybe his teacher was a collage?

**** of you bunch of ***** you aint got a clue, and Craig you cant even spell college, absolute bunch of mugs

:RpS_lol::RpS_lol:what the fook you on about, so ******* what if i can't spell, you knew what i was on about,
i don't agree with gauging with shovels, simple as that, you wanna gauge with shovels,go ahead, don't have a hissy girlie fit over it:RpS_cursing:

i like gauging with buckets, its how i got taught,i like my render colour exact:RpS_thumbup:

i have never seen a brickie gauge with buckets.
you will not see a minor colour change in pointing as bad as you will in a large rendered area.:RpS_thumbup:
if i put to much water in,i will gauge my buckets again,if its 5x1 i will put in 2 and a half to half:RpS_thumbup:
and even if its painted after its done, there is nothing worse than looking at different coloured render, for a few weeks,in my opinion, its rough:RpS_thumbup:
and mate,i used to keep up with 5 spreads when i was serving my time gauging with buckets,i wouldent of dared being behind,i would of got butt ******

u would see it onpointing coz a lot of the time ur matching into existing on extensions etc.

and ud have to be a **** to change a mix that much to see it on a rendered wall.

did u ever get buttraped?

Seriously.? Have a Wee look at the pva outside thread

I still dont get the whole "you shouldn't use pva outside" thing, Im sure the companies who make external grade waterproof PVA know more than the likes of the guys on here to whether their product is suitable to be used externally.

Yes and im pretty sure the guys on here know the difference between external and internal

(well most of them)

Rendering job! Inside

Rendering job! Ootside

ferfuxsake :RpS_blink:

P.S shouldnt need to use the external stuff anyway, water would probably suffice in most cases for suction control

Normal bricklaying mortar is usually gauged by shovel, coloured mortars gauged by buckets. The darker the colour the more critical the consistency becomes. Internally or Externally

i honestly don't get this,so you think that you would see slight colour changes in pointing a lot more than a big fook off rendered wall.:RpS_bored: and mate,it would take one shovel full to change the colour, and you would notice on a big fook off gable end. but seriously,

i don't give a fook, you lot carry on using ya shovels,i will carry on using me buckets:RpS_thumbup:we only do has we are taught after all dear,be it right of wrong.

oh and know,i never got buttfuked,i always kept up,even gauging with them slow buckets:RpS_scared:

fair enough mate. its not really that important afterall

but if u ever fancy a bit of bumfun, gimme a pm :RpS_thumbsup:

thank **** for that, thought we were all gonna have to meet up at a play area and have a stand off, picture it now,all stood there and saying (i start it)" i use buckets" "well i use shovels" "oh and you can't spell college" "well you can't spell outside" "well your G**" "ah,ok,fair point, lets go for a pint"

If you know what your doing a shovel is fine, the only time i go by bucket is if its Snowcrete, thats when you have to precise .
