Whats the difference between a house built of solid brick in lime morter 200 years against one built yesterday with the same method? Answer is nothing, it is not the age of the building but the way the building is built that determines what render is aplied.
Lucius.

Yes you are right but your taking this example to the extreme. I am 100% right in what im saying in 99.9% of rendering jobs.

Well Richard you definitely like the last word and i will concede, you are right 99% of the time and i will be right the other 1% obviously my 37 years of experience counts for nothing.
Lucius.

Im not being funny and I do appreciate what you are saying but very rarely has any architect specified traditional lime render on any job I have done and I really feel that what I said above is right.Yes there is of course the need on some jobs to use the traditional method but even so nearly all the houses that are lime rendered are painted with the wrong paint so sealing the building anyway.

Im still waiting to hear back from HAWK to tell us the problem exactly.

All the best lucius

Richard the only thing ive ever known an architect to get right is the address and ive known them to get that wrong, as for paint you are dead right, their are specialised breathable paints available now but they are not cheap and the trad way of limewash is a pain.
Regards Lucius

Especially if they use f&b limewash the content of the lime is low and the price is high , id go as far in saying its poo, hey but its trendy and architects love it.
