Hi, this is my first post but been lurking the site for a little while so thanks for all the help you've already provided. I'm rendering a retaining block wall in my garden and want to render the top and upper section of the back. My question is - do I go up and over in one go or do I need to do the face, then the top next day (or whatever) and then later the back. Sorry if this is a ridiculous question but I'mpretty much a complete novice, although I've done some plastering, so thanks in advance for your help.
Tom

Can you not put Copes on top??? oh and welcome to the forum by the way

cope stones visit your local builders merchant they will have various sizes and styles, get the thickness of your wall plus render?that will tell you what width of cope you need?it nerds to over hang your finished wall to allow water to run off hope this helps?

Thanks very much both of you. Dan if my wife says it has to be render top does that mean I should do it in two goes then - face and then top with the angle bead?

will have a longer lifespan with cope stones

If your goin to render the top of the wall make sure it has a slight slope to allow water run off, preferably to the back of the wall so you won't see the water stain marks that will appear over time

Ok - thanks for all your help and I'll certainly try and persuade my wife to have cope stone sounds easier and better. But ... If she still wants render can someone answer my original question, do I do it all in one go or do the face, let it cure then do the top?
thanks again everyone.

Just bead the top of the wall allowing the thickness of your render for the top. Then scratch coat the wall and top at the same time then top coat the wall and top at the same time when the scratch is cured.............Just convince your lass to get coping stones is a better job marra...............and welcome to the forum...........:RpS_thumbup:
