Water proofer and lime? Bit counter productive ain't it? Lime opens up the render so what's the point in waterproofer?
I don't use lime on externals just waterproofer. Use lime on internals unless its a damping job then we don't.

Waterproofer in the scatchcoat, to prevent to much suction when applying the top coat, also put a waterproof membrane around the property, better to use an integral waterproofer
Lime make the mix more workable. reduces cracking, and improves the colour, also it will create suction , if you are going to spray tryolean

I mean lime in the top coat

Aye, I know the benefits of lime - makes it nice and fluffy :) The builder in this case didn't supply any lime - even sent bloody river sand! (that got sent back). We just used less waterproofer in the top coat as it acted as a plasticiser as well. Went on nice with no running and rubbed up lovely. Was only being painted.

Did an internal damping job where the render was overlapped onto the floor and the builder's screed overlapped onto this (total waterproofing for a company who make flood doors). Specs were a litre of Sika1 to every mix and no lime.. When dubbing one wall out the buggering stuff just ran off the scratch coats but we had to use it.
