my mogoloid gang left it on a kier site at peterboro, its the red handle type. if anyone sees it lurking around please point it in my direction. i fkin love that spat, its a real asset on the lids.:RpS_crying:

Devastating. Only just got used to using mine and I wouldn't be without it. Can't you have nicks while he's away

I've been looking to get a s*p*r*lex spat, what size are you using beddy? And at what stages does it work best? Is the pole worth getting?

Get a 32" web and get the pole.

I would be taking the cost of a new one out out of their wages. It the only way they will learnski.

whats it like on reskims steve i keep looking at them but i get on quite well with the speedskim, just anoying you can only flatten with it, do you trowel up with the spat

Buy one jase youll not regret it. Good on any substrate as long as its relatively flat. Ive not really tried using it to trowel up with yet but i will do. Youll never need the speedskim again.

sorry steve didnt realise you was called steve aswell as steve, you use both speedskim and spat dnt you?? how do you find the spat?

can one of the steves give me the low down please, so im guessing you lay on as normal then spat to flatten it in (replacing the speed skim) what do you use it for after?? if ya dnt mind me asking

Finishing with spats on multi looks shite until the very last minute where it looks fantastic. It will frighten you as you keep flattening and seeing a greasy surface covered in bumps. Stick with it, and it comes good.

I would still say speedskim flattens much better as it fills voids as it goes. Spats are better for finishing. Try it. Then try a sponge/spat combo....sexual.

I agree with CV. Get it on one coat. Speedskim straight away. Leave it to pick up. Sponge with water the speedskim flat. s*p*r*lex with a little water, then plastic trowel. Dry trowel with super flex spat when darkened.

Sounds long winded but as the tools are so large it only take a lot less time.

I had the two foot one, think nicks is four aint it? I reckon the biggest I would go is a three, the heavier and more surface area it covers the more pressure u have to apply and could end up dragging it off, I don't know coz I've not used one but that's the theory in my fluffy head anyway.

What sizes are you lads using? Spats not dildos

I mainly use the 2 foot spat. I have a four foot one that flattens ceilings nicely, but I'll use that less when the speedskim pole attachment comes.

Hi all..

Universal Speedskim pole attachment will be out very soon - fits all standard professional decorator type poles so no need to buy anything special.
New Speedskim high performance finishing blades will be available later in 2012 to compliment the existing range. These blades will be economical to buy and fully interchangeable.

Cheers, Scott

Hi ive recently bought a 5foot spat its class mate , can do a ceilin in two wipes & its made of recycled car tyres

Hi JR

The blades are a new design profile of flexible stainless steel - they give a fantastic finish on flat surfaces as all plasterers would expect, but the new profile means they are exceptional on uneven substrates too. This we feel is really important. Economical, interchangeable and lightweight - This design is first up for completion but other materials of similar design will be available for slightly different surface finishes. We think you will really like them :-)

oh oh oh i get it now thier getting to the same as the s*p*r*lex buttttt thier much cheaper, if this is the case im all over this when is released

Hi Beddy - the new blades will complement the existing Speedskim. The original blade with its advantages for flatten and the new profile for finish. Entirely different design from other manufacturers. Obviously it will be down to the individual to decide which system better suits their routine but we recommend the use of the two styles of blade to achieve the best finish.

Tbh the refina spat is well overpriced for what it is.. and that pole which I paid 35 quid for is basically a glorified paint roller pole. Bring on the competition I say. Hope speed skim can deliver

Good move this scott. The speedskim brand will be all we need soon and the best bit is that it's all british :RpS_biggrin:

Hi mate - no probs, we know you weren't' having a dig and neither are we - its all part of the debate. We know there are other great products on the market and professional plasterers have a variety of systems they use to get a spot on finish :-)

Whats that on your nose mate? Oh...it looks like speedskim s**t...

Seriously mate im sure scott and lee have got burds at home so you can stop the flirting

Will blades be inter changeable?? Reason I ask is ny mate has a speed skim and I use his. I was gonna buy one but might hold off if new kit is on its way unless the new blades will work on the old speeds skim

Hi Windy - all new blades will fit existing handles and will be fully interchangeable so absolutely no problems there :-) In using the Speedskim system we recommend original blade for flattening skim coat and ruling off backing plasters - and a separate Speedskim with finishing blade for completion of the skim coat. Using the two in our opinion will give outstanding results. Hope this helps mate.
