scrimping on the scrim

hi all ,

i've been plastering now for 7 months and did my first job on my own yesterday. normally i work in a team. although i've had a good few months experience, yesterday was a hectic day just trying to make sure i didn't make any errors and i was tidy etc....

i plastered 6 small walls on a new build house, the house is vacant and will be for a good while. the house belongs to my boss who is a general builder. so although i was on my own there, is still for the same guy... anyways!

everything was plasterboarded and i just had to skim. job was a goodun and i was really proud of what i did. i then started to clean up and pack away when i realised i forgot to scrim.

6 walls and no scrim. the boss isn't going to like this. what the hell can i do about that now???

you learn by your mistakes, this is certainly a good one, .. he'll notice because the scrim isn't around the joins joining onto the ceiling.

can i rectify this error in any way? i've got the keys for another three days (today is friday)

cheers guys.

he's gonna know not beacuse the scrim aint showin round the edges of the meeting corners but because there will soon be sweaty cracks all over the room. dont panic. just do like they say, find joints/scrim up seal walls and reskim. he wont sack you will he maybe just laugh at yer 4 a bit

yea i fink hate skimming over fresh plaster it pulls in a treat.. but that may work in your favor as you could do the 1 mix wet up trick if it plls in that much!

offer to mistcoat it,should be able to caulk ceiling line up and that should sort ceiling line. i would just push really hard or tap walls to see where its gonna crack and caulk the lines in nice then mist coat all the walls should be ok? should give you chance to get it all sound or reskim the lot but dont foget the scrim!

It cracks now and again even with scrim just say you scrimmed it and try and blag it put it down to not enough experience and remember to scrim next time ;)

don't use caulk on cracks in plaster because it shrinks and can't be sanded down.

:-[ ok never noticed it shrink before sorry, maybe filler? or like kirk says explain say your redo it free over weekend sorted.
