Hi Everyone,

First post. Like many others, have been reading up on the different systems and brands of external render only to become more confused. We have finsihed the shell and roof on a three bedroom breeze block solid wall house (the solid wall construction is due using existing foundations from a previous building).

I have the option of going for the insulated plasterboards internally with dot/dab or EWI. Not sure which one will be better as many have said there is not much between the two systems and internal would be cheaper??

We still need to render the outside and I am not sure what to choose. Reading the forums, Parex seems well recommended. The surface area measuress approx 210m2. Are the new systems superior to S&C with paint?

I am based in Birmingham. Anyone inerested in having a look and quoating for the job. Will also consider getting th einteral plastering done too, if the price is right.

Thanks

i do not think that the building is breeze block. they have not been in use since the 60s. i guess it is built from leca block.
i would go for ewi on this construction. if you can run to it use insulated plasterboard on the internal walls that make up the shell of the building.

Hi AMG,

Welcome to the forum. External Wall Insulation is becoming a very popular choice at the moment. The new Render systems are of a very high quality with manufacturer guarantees etc. S&C with paint is still a good cost effective option if your will to pay for a high quality paint with a self cleaning finish.

We supply the EWI system from Mapei and also their range of External paints. They are also based in Birmingham and I could arrange for someone to come and visit you. If you wish to talk to us about the system more please give me a call on 012424 236699

Ryan
