Im same m8 thinking packing it in being self employed 25 years trying to keep people happy I've had enough. The only reason I do it becouse I can get time to run the kids to gymnastic and dancing and suit my self. I've got a nother 5 years of hard graft il be morgatge free income from holiday home f**k it then choose my little jobs then 3 days a week not wishing my life away I'm looking forward..How do chaps cope with self employment? Sometimes I feel like jacking it all in, the hours you spend looking at potential jobs then having to work a price out on top of a days graft, all the work comes at once and all want you there yesterday, van packs in, work load get puts back putting more pressure on you, laid in bed wide awake because cogs are spinning. I sometimes wonder is it worth it.
same here carys, just turned 60 ,no mortgage now working 2/3 days a week, somtimes less, just doing little jobs now, suits me,i love it,....once you get rid of the mortgage it makes such a difference,no more chasing work/stress etc, good luck carysIm same m8 thinking packing it in being self employed 25 years trying to keep people happy I've had enough. What I'd do if I could be bothered the hassle of getting a squad together. Sub work long as the firm isn't taking the piss with their rates. Turn up, do the work get paid. No fanning about sheeting up etcI sub to firms on new builds so now aggro dealing with idiotscwasting time on shite over skims
personally ,i would sell 1 property off,.......then pay mortgage off, put a decent lump sum in an isa account, 500.00 each in gas and electric accounts,...600.00 quid in sky account,....have a holiday week self catering york,if possible put 3,000 in ordinary cheuque account ,to be used for food etc ,....and if possible 3,000 in a building society account emergency money,.........obviously the figures i am quoting are just a guide, but you get the ideaI'm in a quandary
I'm 47 and have 3 kids all early teens...i have 2 rental props one of which if I sold would wipe my mortgage and leave cash over..10 years left to pay. But then I'll lose the passive income it brings and my little pension pot ...
And waste the rest?Spend it all on Charlie, vodka & hookers!
Thanks m8.same here carys, just turned 60 ,no mortgage now working 2/3 days a week, somtimes less, just doing little jobs now, suits me,i love it,....once you get rid of the mortgage it makes such a difference,no more chasing work/stress etc, good luck carys

a joiner i know also 60, has sold his van, sold all his big heavy duty saws and big vices etc,.......now he has his basic tool kit in his stanley box in back of car, tells me if he cant do any jobs from that tool box then he is not intrested, nowadays he hangs doors/skirting/backmould/airing cupboard shelving etc just small jobs ,customers supply all materials,......he has no hobbies,it gets him out the house a bit pocket money as he says, works when he wants to,so he has got the right idea and a plan as you say carys, the worst thing anybody can do is pack in and sit at home all day watching tv,you have got to keep the mind active ,and fourtanetly being in the building trade we can carry on and do these small jobs, ihad a spread who helped me out on jobs big ceilings etc he was 78, cash job for him, helped me out everybody happyThanks m8.
