how spreads do sets in 2 hours ill never know.........
i can do a set in 1 hour ,if i want it to look 5hit,to do a propper job i think it should take 3 hours with 2 coats and at least 4 trowels

I can only be arsed doing 2 normally.

We do a ceiling and 2 walls in the first, then an easy second one of just 2 walls so while I'm finishing off my mate is putting all the gear away.

wow this is old! i work with my lab now and do 3 sets a day with preping about 1.5bag for first coats.

How many trowels do you give to get 2 hour sets? They must look awful. Decorator must have a mission on to cover that up! Or is there a secret to making the plaster go off quicker?

FlAt boy...How can you only take 2hours over a set If you know it should take 3hours to do a proper job with 4trowels, and you know how good that finish looks. I'm not judging you, just wondering what state you walk away and leave the wall in after 2hours?
Just trying to get quicker myself.
Thanks

you give it 4 trowels?! do you class the last polish as a trowel?
yes if u like 3 trowels and a polish ,4 in all ,ps i dont go 4 that ultra shiny finish just one constant coulor when dry

Sorry mate. It was skyzoo who was banging on about 2 hours. My mistake!
I tend to flatten 2nd, 2drytrowels,one with wTer then finish with a dry cross trowel. Works for me!
What do you do?

1st coat ,flattern,2nd coat flattern,1st trowel,2nd trowel 3rd trowel ,and final trowel i don't do a ultra shiny finish eather .my finish is one constant colour when dry it took me years to Master that finish if u no what i meen

Think everyone know what you mean mate. Thing is I can't believe anyone who is pushing 2hour sets(skyzoo) can have anywhere near the kind of finish we're talking about.
Put it thisway, if I walked Away from a set after 2hours the decorator following wold kick the living turd out of me. Just wantto know how they get away with it/how many trowels/coats they're giving it to nail a set down in 2hours. If it's worth doing and will keep the decorator off my back, then I may be tempted to try it!

Now come on you 2hour set guys... Share the wealth of your knowledge... ;-p

some people love the job to still take pride in what thay do like most of us on here

I'm just trying to get my head around it flat boy.
If a plasterer us saying they can fit 5 sets in a day and I'm on 2... maximum 3, then u wNt to know how that's possible.
Don't take offence mate, and don't insinuate I don't take pride in my work, cos I do... I hate seeing poor workmanship, especially in plastering, it really annoys me, but at the end of the day, if I'm pitchig for jobs against these 2hour set people I want to know what I'm up against.
Comprendais?

i do 2 good sets as well its always been normal as far as i am concerned mate . when i done my apperentership the old school plasterers also done 2 in a day and thats fine

Sweet. I'm in good company then!
I'm currently keeping around 1 1/2 - 2 bags per set going (for first mix). I work on my own, but got a 2 and 1 job coming up where I assume I'll be able to get a lot more on. It's all good.

Ps- like the job pics flatboy. Some very nice work! That ceiling must have had some water thrown on it at some point tho-it's got a lurvely shine to it!

****** if I could do a two coat set in 2hours.. nothing to do with playing with it too much, it dont go off that quick, end of. UNLESS its one coat.

Nah still dont see it, all sets the same regardless of size!

Guess it depends what ya laying on, old plaster, pissy coat of pva and yeh itll go off in no time, but board, artex, paint, etc/ no way hosay.

on price work id do about aprox 40 bags of hardwall mixing 4 bags a time in the morning.then double back and finish in afternoon.that workin with a decent labourer.and be polished up floors scraped.tools washed leave job about 4 30.

i only did 3 walls and 2 fire place revels today was just 1 of them days when it didnt go right etc lol

Some days you do lots, some you do **** all, it depends on how ya feeling, how much you got on the job, whose watching, if you can be arsed, if your in a banging mood, if its friday, if its monday.. but who gives a **** how much you do long as its good and you get paid.
