dont understand what your asking mate.. batten ?? just put your boards on a strip of board to keep em 1/2'' off floor, suppose you could bead up before, but would make the boarding awkward, shadow beads usually go on top of boards, there only 3mm stop beads for skimming...

Iwould stick on the p/board then fall back and cut a slot out for the shadow gap bead, bearing in mind where u stick the the dabs in relation to you cutting out your slots, also I've got a fein multi tool and that would make the job slightly easier.

you have to fit the beads to the plasterboard first, they are a tight fit. you can then adjust the beads as required.
we plastered a hospital using these beads, they had to all be filled in as they are a dust trap.

but imo door lining shadow gaps work well easy to fit , but at skirting thats a different animal things need to be level before we get involved

been using shadow gap beads on a new build we've been doing, found it easier to stick boards lengthways as the beads are easier to push onto a bound edge. They can be a bugger to fit but once you're used to them it gets easier.
