Will sbr and sand be ok to create a key to sand cement over this blue sika tanking coat? Or anyone any other ideas. They want to avoid mechanical fixing

This is another post about SBR I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure a lot of people are using SBR in the wrong way. I was on a job a while back and the plasterer who's job it was insisted on me using the SBR over his sand and cement before I skimmed it.

Speak to Sika...guess you could scud it with sand/cement/sbr or maybe rendaid and texture with roller

I've seen a few put a sbr/cement mix on then render the next day

i would use rendaid with a good scratch to build up a key.
This would be my choice also. SBR is a good product but but needs to used correctly at least with the rendaid it is more straight forward.

Have you tried their own render system- 2 and 3 coats. I had similar job and was looking at their systems. Never happened tho, so I can't give you feedback unfortunately.

I did look at that. Costly by looks of.it and ive got to match the same on otherwalls

I know you said no fixings , but can't you fix rib lath 500mm down into the block work and get a fixing in the head above the door and let the rib lath sail over the blue rubber?
Or fix a full sheet vertically into blockwork ,the amount sailing past will be more than supported and the piece above the door could be fixed into the head reveal and make it longer in length and tuck it behind the vertical upright that's fixed into the blocks

Yep, that was the reason the job failed out! The customer wanted Wetherby adhesive and silicon top coat- cheaper , but I couldn't risk it and told him to find someone else. The job was at the back of the house, yours is a garage wit a door that creates a lot of vibes and banging, so whatever you decide to do must be spot on.
