Doesn't pay to have a labourer for skim only hail, all the price site lads will tell you that

Went like that in Belfast for the brickies few years ago but didn't know it was like that in the UK for plastering.

How's this if the money is good over there? That's what I thought anyway.

TBH with you, I fcuking hate mixing for myself when plastering and have only done it once or twice for the bigger jobs.

I
. One of the biggest mistakes I made was having a lad mixing skimming for me.Then standing around while I'm like a headless chicken troweling up,beading, and redoing scrim. If your on your own and organise yourself properly you can do well enough on your own (in peace).

Its a lonely day working all on your own all day. I'd pay someone just to stand in same room as me just so I can talk sh1te to them. That talking to oneself isn't good for the aul soul. It got to the point I was talking and answering myself. Depressing times! :loco:

Doesn't matter how good the money is, you will earn more on your own, and as flynny says your not chasing a gauge, ie. Don't have to work as hard.
Just get a radio hail!

Hail is right it is soul destroying on your own on site and a lot of sites won't let you have a radio as well as all the other bullshit.

Only time I have a labourer is outside or floating s&c where I'm floating all day long. Hardwall etc on my own as well

@BigK Yeah 2 plasterers on the job haha Labourer went home on the Friday we stayed till Monday grafting our best day was Sunday and we did not have him with , we decided next job not to take a Lab .

We also had to go back and clean areas he had missed :muyenojado:

Always 1 coat unless your getting £ 3.50 plus, the Site managers don't know the difference, ( that's if you know what your doing )

When u 1 coat Dave you've got to give it another trowel so its not quicker and you can tell the difference..

So are new builds expensive? A flat in Manchester would cost around £200,000 and they are getting on average £2 a metre
I live in Wigan and a massive amount of my mates and lads in the area are spreads on site. In and around man and Liverpool the lads are getting £2.50 -£3.00 and I have 2 dry lining companies I suby to that pay £3.50 in new build offices flats schools etc

Once your not arguing with yourself it's not too bad!.

Who? I've worked for most of them and the day I start believing another plasterer on what their getting payed is the day I start spraying domestics with multie finish ;)

Bed down joints, scrim over beads and bed down...mix gear bit rounder keep on top of your gauge 3 trowels max done!

Can knock nearly 1hr off each set put o slightly less m2 a gauge and ever so slightly quality pay off.

I prefer to do this and put 3 quicker smaller gauges than 2 big long winded gauges.

Prep work needs to be mint but works for me can see a gauge off in 1hr 30 ish.

2 coated religiously until was shown how to 1 coat properly.

I'm f**k*d if I'm making the job any harder anymore!
