spunkys right, your meant to let the 1st coat dry before u apply the second coat, so it doesnt matter if its done the day before or the same day aslong as its dry,
as i am a novice plaster , could someone inform me the time scale of the first coat going on to the second coat of skim , i thought it was when the first coat and slighty hardened dut you could still work it with your finger
Depends on the suction from the substrate but on boardwork normally its around 30 mins this time of year , there is no exact science to it , just experience.
No mate, remove any loose skim, if your first coat of skim is still intact, tile it. If all your skim comes off, give the wall a good drink with a roller and water, when the dry backing coat remains damp to the touch but not wet through, skim as normal. Don't wait 40mins between coats.
dont know about you guys but lately when going over tacky /moist pva i find the plaster behaving strange kind of going off immediatly and being cottage cheesy
