Skim over ocr 3?

Don't get me wrong I think that Hardwall does give a decent finish, I just don't really like using it compared with S&C. That may change a bit once we get the Ritmo spraying the Hardwall though lol.

Andy spraying hardwall through a ritmo is shite compared to CPI. It cloggs up and needs cleaning a few times a day.

Hardwall came in and was deemed better for site work as it was easy to move around, didn't need a lab to measure the mix and could be set on same day.

Now we have bagged s+c it does all that as well however you have no issues with suction ( other then celcons which need priming for any backing coat).

CPI is not just s+c either it far superior. It's can be rulled easier and floated when wetter. It also doesn't skrink when curingpp s can be set on as soon as hard.

We can also float much more of it a day at a much more leisurely pace as its not going of on you like a gypsum backing coat.

Board finish over the top is excellent

If you want it all finished by the end of the day ready for setting then 12 ish. If you are able to get back in the next day then you can carry on till about 2 and i beam back and devil it next day

Yep no wetting down needed. Just a quick scrape with trowel before you hit it.

Board finish is best its designed for low suction backgrounds

Andy have you used cpi as it comes yet? I haven't floated it but I have skimmed it and its lovely as it comes

No mate I've still never used the stuff. Both the cost and lack of easy availability have put me off up until now.
We've got a good sized bungalow coming up some time which we're planning on using it on for the first time.
Don't like the thought of being, say, half a ton short and then being told there's over a weeks lead time.

You could hand apply it but we never have. We allow 1.2m2 when ordering.

If your looking for a bagged render for hand applying try Remix. Ive used that before and its nice and dirt cheap. In fact I think its almost the same as buying sand cement and lime separate.

Arti I've never used ocr sand cement id imagine its designed for one coat machine work with extra gubbons to allow you to spray thick CPI is just and cement 2 coat work

weber.rend OCR should be applied with a hawk and trowel in a one coat operation, then ruled level. On low suction backgrounds a first pass may be necessary prior to building up the full thickness in the second pass.

Render thicknesses are as for traditional materials.

  • External render approx. 16 mm for sheltered to moderate exposure or 20 mm for severe exposure.
  • Internal render approx. 8 to 19 mm.
  • Tiling approx. 8 to 20 mm.
Thickness should not exceed 25 mm.

Finish as required. For plain face finishes rub up in the normal way as the render begins to pick up. Other appropriate fishes may be achieved by suitable means.

Cure for 2 - 3 days before over coating.

During rapid drying conditions such as hot climates, curing with a fine spray of clean water may be necessary.

There you go, as I've said before no mention of machine application although lads on here say it sprays fine.

Do you use the General purpose CPI for scratch and for top ? if its got waterproofer in it is it OK for topping out ?

Yep and yep.

Oh and its not the same as weber ocr as it can't be sprayed to thick without it dropping so u have to do two seperate coats to get require thickness for external rendering. However its not just sand and cement as it rules up nicer and is much easier to plane back when its tightened, which you can't do as easy with normal s+c
