At least he had the decency to come on here and ask eh?

I quote 'the brief was simple, I want to be able to paint it when finished'

If, for example, the wall is an inch out of plumb, do you think the plasterer put on an inch of plaster for the fun of it? He hasn't.
He has followed the existing walls, re-skimmed.

It never ceases to amaze me people going around with levels on finished plaster, did you go around with the level prior to commencement of work, to decide what would be required?

You wanted a job doing so you would be able to paint it.

So paint it.

You tell them ' cousin' ha ha

Can't see the photos on the app!?
It's not as bad as its been made out to be then?

The over skim is good enough but the OP is using the existing unlevel finish to make it sound like a problem?

Nothing wrong with the plastering, the OP sounds like one of those awkward customers everyone dreads. After everyon could see the pics and it was pointed out the plasterer was innocent , he went offline, no thanks, no apologies. Nuff said

Can't see the actual 'quality' or smoothness of the finish as you have said.
However the quality 'imperfections' for want of a better word are not a problem. You asked for an overskim and you got what you asked for. You don't put a straight edge on finish, you have nothing to complain about
Customers think skimming is magic.............straightens walls as far as the eye can see.....................:frenetico:

The pics don't show how rough it is

You complained about walls not being straight and beads out of plumb and posted pics to demonstrate this. When everyone told you the work was acceptable you changed your complaints to the finish being rough but you cannot demonstrate this

Pics don't look that bad to me, as for not being plumb or level you got what you asked for,a reskim if you wanted walls levelled you should have made that clear to the builder and the spread and been there while work was going on to check. As for the bad finish why haven't you put pics up of that? The price you mentioned in my book would only have been for a 're skim, would have cost far more for hack off, level up! It's a trowel not a magic wand!

Over skimmed is effectively one up from lining paper. It should give a matt blemish free surface ready for painting. Getting the level out is completely pointless. You cant go for the cheap option then expect the results of the most expensive option.

Well said mate....Amazes me how many customers except perfectly level walls for an overskim price.

clueless idiots

A reskim is a exactly that.. a tight coat over existing....
