its easier to board it than to paint a bit of s**t on it first?? have i lost something here?there is no reason why it won't on ceilings, however it's so much easier and cheaper to overboard and skim !!!
a few hours? what if the ceiling is 4.5m x 4.5m with coving up ?The way I see it is that if - IF - you are using plasprime/betakontack/thistlebondit you will need to paint it on and leave it a few hours or preferably overnight to set properly, so unless you have other rooms to do, you're on two visits doing it that way. BUT, if you overboard it, you can crack on straight away with the skimming (and it takes a lot less finish) As I've said before, it's much safer to overboard anyhow :RpS_thumbup:
how do u make that out. its cheaper to slab then thistle bond-it. how much is a 8ft slab in the uk.
£4/£5 a sheet so your gonna get around 10 boards for the price of the bondit depending where you buy it. By the time youve waited for the bondit to set youve boarded and skimmed it. Its a much better job and less chance of cracking or de-bonding, it gives you extra fire protection and sound protection its also cleaner to overboard and may pull the ceiling up if its sagged.
but its not cheaper it takes 2 men to slab ceiling u have to pay 4 help just takes 1 man to bond-it r pva£4/£5 a sheet so your gonna get around 10 boards for the price of the bondit depending where you buy it. Yeah 8x4s are a nightmare to put up on your own, and what is even worse is when the room is a mile out of square and you have to put small cuts around the edge resulting in loads of left over off cuts to get rid of.
Yeah theres more waste and rubbish with overboarding to...
do you use a full tub of bondit on one ceiling ? if it takes 3 hours for it to set then why not just use PVA? paint it on get ya tackle in and its ready
so you get there at 8am sheet the room up get ya tackle in then take down the coving and the light, then reboard then skim and thats quicker and cleaner than just bondit then skimming it? oh and then youv to put some coving back up
why is it a much better job when boarded? when i skim a ceiling either overboarded first or not it still the same quality
:RpS_confused:
Ive explained why its a better job and the advantages of overboarding nobodys mentioned coving appart from you but if theres coving you cant overboard. 10 boards = 30m im not sure how far bondit goes but i know it says leave 24 hours.
Boarding is a lot cleaner than bondit also you can use your waste but to be honest there aint that much waste overboarding a ceiling. It takes two puffs to overboard a ceiling or one man on his own
ok super man:RpS_lol:2 men to board a ceiling wtf :RpS_laugh:
ok super man:RpS_lol:
your right :RpS_thumbup:It's not about being superman it's about using props & board mates to your advantage, saving labour costs for your own pocket :RpS_thumbup:
your right :RpS_thumbup:
i dont no if its just me. but... **** over boarding. i would rather drive 20 miles out of my way, and bond it the lid and come back the next day, rather than driving to a merchants, chucking 10 boards in my van, getting to the job, carrying 10 boards upstairs, cutting and tacking the f**k**s and then skimming it. id rather shag my mum. obviously some lids need it but as a general rule. no. and now i am a parex rep, microgobitis can be gone over as soon as touch dry.
and no, my mum isnt fit
Just use 6x3s and board it on your own ffs. 9.5s for overboarding and no need for props if you aint got em.
