I've overskimmed several hundred Artex ceilings, probably nearly a thousand. Very rare to have problems. Maybe two or three times in all those. Two coats of SBR one after the other and then leave it till it's tacky will give you a lot of extra time and less problems or two coats of PVA one after the other and then just keep making sure the PVA is tacky as you're skimming till it's covered.Customer as put 2 coats of SBR mixed with water over artex ceilings can i skim straight over them a few days later?

If the artex is over 2 or 3 mm thick then put bonding on first. It's annoying but makes it really work for you. One coat of bonding plus 2 coats of skim.
Charge for the extra coat and you'll get a nice bonus at the extra day.
