had a new trainer start today and had a good chat with him, anyway he proudly told me he had had his trusty trowel for 23 years and guards it with his life?????? (wont tell his age)

what about the rest of you lot? ;D

trowels a trowel to me mate once ive had it a few months
mines probably 4 years old at the mo got 2 of the same age...
my mate had his dads old stainless thing, god knows how old, was the shape of my shoe!, bloody good little trowel though ill give him that, he used to guard that too!

some of the kids that we train sometimes couldnt keep a trowel for more than a month, more interested in using it to clean the botom of the shoes, playing tennis wth a ten pence peice, writing there names in brick walls, slashing there mates new kappa tracksuit etc... in fact anything but plaster with???? ;D

and then they think they have been given dodgy plaster or training when they keep getting lines in the skim????? what is it with some kids today, judging by the music they listen to i think they must have been hipnotised catin mc puberty. sorry, i shouldnt mock :-/

I always find if i take rub the front corners off it'll pretty much do away with the lines and if i do get a nick (im a lazy git sometimes ill chip off what i think is a bit of render which turns out to be a nail...) ill rub it back up on an oilstone or one of these new diamond sharpeners (bloody brill on chisels btw)

that all said, i invested best part of 40 quid in a marshalltown 14" 'worn in', didnt like it one bit, 1st set my forearm was killin me so i gave it the labourer...

labourer loves it though..makes him feel like a real plasterer!

ive had mine about 4 years, just bought a new one to wear in while i still use this one though.

its starting to miss shape so new one will need to be used only soon i think.

23 years :s either he doesnt use it much or its very slim ;D

My oldest trowel is 4 years may be 5 only really done skimming with it so is taking ages to wear in, but I am quite attached to it now.

Been using a 16 for rendering to wear it in... I actually hate it and use it now for cuttiong cemant bags.

had mine past on from my old mentor probably 33yrs old. It's a pleasure to work with

Had mine about 2 years its great to plaster with as is as sharp as a razor and blade is very fine, one of the rivets has popped on the blade so won't last that much longer. Need to break a new one in, any suggestions to speed up process?

Tyzack double hang centenary about 26/7 years old and still in pristine condition, forgot to mention the fact taht I bought it put it away and forgot all about it. Just cant bring myself to use it!!!!!

I have been loving round the local car boot market for some vintage trowels,I knew someone who found a cracking set for very little money,I havnt found any as yet just an old tyzack tuck pointer, there's loads of brick trowels just not plastering:)

I,ve still got my tyzak internal angle trowel (twitcher) and a 6ft and 8ft feather edges from my apprenticeship days way back in the early 80s, my trowels are a little younger
