Solid wall and cold spots

Can someone here just clarify for me, do you get cold spots still on a rendered solid/non cavity wall? We all know when dabbed it causes cold spots so is generally a no no, but if its rendered does this not create one mahoosive cold spot?

Stupid question to some but been bugging me! x

Render is a poor insulator so I would say yes. Not sure I would agree that dabs cause cold spots

When dabbed u get a gap between the board and wall. Cold air develops in the gap. Well, air colder than the room anyway. Use insulation board and make sure no air pockets can develop

Yes cold wall rather then cold spots or bridgings.

So you do still get a cold spot just larger and less noticable?

When say noticeable, you mean condensation and maybe mould, which are symptoms of poor ventilation rather than cold bridging.

So its more of a case of a lot of moisture in the air tracking onto a cold spot? Cheers brahs, bit clearer now

That is exactly what happens, though mould building up unknowingly behind an insulated slab is very unhealthy, it is not the plastering /slabing causing the problem but poor ventilation of wet areas .
