Wickes is worse than useless imo. At the start of lockdown, when Travis Perkins closed shop overnight and dropped a lot of folk in the dwang, I placed an order (24/3) with Wickes for multi-finish, plaster board and other items. They delivered everything bar the multi finish 06/04. No delivery note and no explanation. Phone calls to the branch get disconnected. Phone calls to their helpline also get disconnected after holding over 30 mins.

I search further afield and placed orders on 06/04 with both Build 4 Less and Insulation Shop. Not as cheap as Wickes. Both charged £25 delivery. Total for 10 bags incl delivery was £107.04 and £114.36. No stock but at least I’m in a delivery queue.

Then I found Carlite at DryWallToolsDirect. So at this stage I have over £1,000 tied up with various plaster orders. (My Carlite was delivered last week, so I’m a happy bunny)

So yesterday when I’m checking my junk mail folder for my click & tip confirmation, I find delivery confirmations from both Build4Less (23/6) and InsulationShop (30/6). Another phone call to Wickes results in being disconnected after 37 minutes.

Wickes don’t care about the small business owner or the home renovator. We found a local building merchant which was great whilst Travis was closed.

DryWallToolsDirect seem to have another Carlite shipment in stock. They’re showing 1,000 bags available (the other day they were down to under 100) Their delivery fee seems to be either 1/4 (£40.70), 1/2 (£43.95) or full pallet (£47.20).
Cheers for this info, just ordered a pallet of carlite which should see me good for the next few jobs. Now to try and source some bonding...

My mate saw and ad on facebook lastnight multifinish £15 per bag septemeber expiry date on,the w**k*r has 168 bags apparently this is why genuine spreads are getting f**k*d up the arsehole by joe public,I'm not back spreading until July I've got 30 bags of board finish and about 3 bags of bonding in my lockup I ain't f**k**g about sourcing it next month will just order a pallet of carlite finish in the middle of july

Probably was down to panic buying at first then the ***** and other greedy feckers saw there was stupid profit to be made, and that was it and it hasn't helped desperate spreads have paid silly prices just to finish a job and get paid and also unexpected customers just wanting to get there job or project finished have paid stupid prices for a few bags of gear then the cycle continues I can't wait for stock levels to be back to normal and these wankers are left with bags of plaster coming out of there ears they cant f**k**g sell

Am so P***ed off with running around trying to get a regular supply i have bitten the bullet
and put an order in for carlite finish and a few bags of ultra just to see how that performs,

Wickes are the biggest arsholes of all its changed the way i shop for all materials from here on in.

Wickes are wankers saying there have shite in stock when clearly there havnt and it's in the back waiting til manager phones his mates up..I rang travis on friday and said I can have 5 bags per day

wickes have their kitchen fitters to have first dibs on the plaster, i,ll be ordering online for a while i think bulk buy supplies beads/skrim/pva/render/ all of it although selco/buildbase/ewi store/direct building supplies are quite helpful all the other merchants can do one

What a flipping shambles this plaster crap is makes me so mad

I've heard September at the earliest, but we may not see it on the shelves until the New Year. Theres something going on we don't know about as stock levels at my local Selcos were running low months before Corona hit...they would regularly be out of stock. My advice mate get into the external work or coving...this isn't going away anytime soon.

No coving either in my local merchants,,,,,6 pallets of make good skim sitting practically untouched. They can't or won't say when a delivery is expected.
It is beyond ridiculous now.

Customers starting to text me now telling me where stock is showing up on internet links to the likes of bandq or wickes , oh what a joy
