Ok i decided to see how far i could spread 2 bags first coat today, agh so thin, yes 2 bags not my usual 3 bags first coat, it didnt feel right making it go as far as it did 29sqr mtrs, cant see how the speed skim can work on skim that thin, it did feel nice not luggin 3 bags though, damn you lot, now look what youve done to me, 2 sets 63 sqr mtrs and not even puffed out, yes made the second set go even further, this could end up being a little competition for me now:RpS_laugh: how far can i make a mix go.Wont work on your thick gear yeo

:RpS_thumbsup:Yes it makes perfect sense to me, if you lay it on heavier its got more durability in my mind.Personaly I think theres a balance between trying to spread to neat and mega thin with to wet gear as in some respects its got less work to do on it once on but equaly by putting it on like such you have to be careful that it doesn't flash on you as not as much body to the gear and equaly you can destroy your finish if start playing to early etc.
Personaly I don't care so much for trying to put it on ultra thin and neat as I prefer a bit more body to the gear on the wall as I think its more forgiving to an early trowel etc and have bit more time on it. However flip side again if its left with a lot of work and a bit thick your in the deep doodaa if you don't get round your set quick enough etc
Does any of that make sense??? lol :RpS_confused:

I dont grasp what your trying to say.Load of ballcocks you keep your thick stuff and your ****** wrists put it on 2mm both coats wet on wet neat as you wont get stripes you wont get uneven drying out and it gives you plenty of time 3 dry trowels done
Ah yes i see what you mean now, i have to confess i did find it alot easier to lay it on wetter and thinner, but as i said in an earlier post it didnt feel right being so thin(spoz im just a bit stuck in my ways) but i am willing to stick with it for a while, maybe change the way i work even, i think all this thick muck started when i worked with a chap who would mix his muck up so thick that it would bend your wrist backward, that did fook my wrist in a day.Cant understand why people make it hard for themselves
and its started to set in bucket, making your set go off quicker !It aint got be as thin as you can get it thats just as hard work just same amount on trowel everytime knock up 2 bags put on board and before you use it knock up your laying like pizz leave it bucket try it and tell me what you think
I will give it a try.It aint got be as thin as you can get it thats just as hard work just same amount on trowel everytime knock up 2 bags put on board and before you use it knock up your laying like pizz leave it bucket try it and tell me what you think
setting process starts soon as you add powder to water so its already had 20/30 mins setting if you mix it soft its useable by the time you get to itIf you knock it up right it wont start setting in bucket
wrist breaker ... no need.... got to be fatigued at end of day ,lot easier if it spreads on its own imhosaw a spread not long ago mixed his finish up so thick it looked like hardwall on his spotboard,
erm, im not that bad for thick muck:RpS_unsure:saw a spread not long ago mixed his finish up so thick it looked like hardwall on his spotboard,
Its still very soft by time i get to itsetting process starts soon as you add powder to water so its already had 20/30 mins setting if you mix it soft its useable by the time you get to it
if your use to doing it this way regularly it will be, im saying this for spreads who don't use this way , I have myself used this method of getting stuff mixed all at once and prefer it to be honest , it still sets quicker as its been mixed a while and that is all im sayingIts still very soft by time i get to it
