Hello all I started using the 1200 Speedskim today, here's how it went -
The room was a large bedroom with new gyproc ceiling, 4 walls that were were plastered and painted, had wallpaper on them for years, all stripped ready to get plastered,
- taped the ceiling and cracks on walls.
- pva the walls,.
- plastered the ceiling and one wall,
- first coat on ceiling immediately over with Speedskim 1200, took under a minute, - fantastic, flattened any trowel lines,
- immediately put on 2nd coat in ceiling.
- put first coat on wall,
- Speedskim 1200 used to flatten in,
- put on 2nd coat on wall.
- back to the ceiling using the Speedskim with a gentle spray of water over the ceiling under a minute again, ceiling looked fantastic,
- onto the wall - same as above looked great, I was really really impressed,
I went over the ceiling and wall with the Speedskim a total of 4 times after the plaster was on,never used a trowel on it, wanted to see how it turned out, I am really really delighted the Speedskim saves you some work and time, can't rate it highly enough ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️,
- next cut my beads for the window wall, mixed the plaster and put on the other 3 walls, and done the exact same as above, result - fantastic my first time using the Speedskim 1200, highly recommend it,
- only time used my trowel was on the window wall and round any sockets, the room looked good, showed the tiler on the job at the end of the day he couldn't believe I never used a trowel on it,
This is the first day of the job, really delighted with the Speedskim, this would be great on any huge ceiling or walls, total time saver, let's you put more on at any time, finished nicely with minimum troweling.
Sorry for length of post as you can tell I'm happy with the Speedskim 1200⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

How did you tidy edges, did you use a trowel for that?i just flatten with mine as Im not sold on the finish.

When you say edges are you talking about the internal angles or the external angles,
My internals ceiling to wall is getting coving put up so I wasn't to fussy there, my internals wall to wall, I used a angle trowel after putting on my 2nd coat sorry I forgot to mention that, I used the Speedskim to sweep it from the internal with a small bit of troweling, then run down with a inch brush,
The externals The beads were on there and I used the Speedskim as same as walls, quick tidy up on any marks or discrepancies near the bead,,did of brush down the bead, hope this answered your question

LoAd of crap.. Who actually wrote this,it's so like an advertisement, but the reality is different eutopia springs to mind, yes the speedskims can be handy to have ,but saving time , that rabbit won't run for me.

I wasn't happy at all with my 1200 and even asked to send it back but a few days in now and after bending and rounding the corners im well happy with it. Only use it to flatten and 1st 2nd trowel then wet with MT and a plastic polish [emoji106]

Gave my Nela to the dabber as well, i dropped it last week but its made me love my MT again so not sure if i'll bother replacing it

Totally agree john there is no way you can get the same finish as a trowel

Hello all, 2nd day using speedskim 1200, Yesterday was my first day using the Speedskim, I wanted to do a full room with minimum troweling to test the speedskim out, sorry if I sound enthusastic ,
Now here's what I think after today, and this is what I'm going to be doing from now on, I agree you will never beat a trowel for a finish, wat I done today was put a ceiling and a wall on then immediay used the Speedskim to flatten out. And it worked nicely, I then went over again with spray of water , the ceiling looked good but not good enough gave it a trowel with water, then another one, perfect,

So I've changed my mind slightly today, I still rate the Speedskim highly and it is fantastic for 1st rub, after that on the the trowel, think it will work fantastic when putting on large areas, taking the pressure of me, saving me time when getting that 1st rub done

Just a thought @Danny to stop all the nonsense with fake profiles etc ( not implying this is one) maybe new members need to make say 100 posts before being able to open new threads ? I'm sure @p1ss would welcome it given the grief he has got recently

you should change y name from speedtrowel to speedskim how much did y get paid for that advert i chucked my speedskim in the skip last week
I reckon most people who can't get on with a speedskim are probably not much cop with a trowel either. Just saying.
ye you right im shite

Speedsskim is a difficult one as I really like it but just not confident in finishing with it ... it's not about whether or not it can be done it's a case of that I like to get my eye all over the wall and with something as big as that I reckon bits will get missed :-/

First we had super über super flex that does all , now we have speedskim in the same category and I just wonder what's next- a mixer that does the taping, corners and puts all the gear on the wall wile you are enjoying your tea?:numberone:
The trade has moved on ! Feel like a dinosaur!:loco:

I have been having a good mess around with the ss lately,I usually just flatten with it, I've done a few lids and flat walls so far where I flatten, then do two more passes with it but in opposite directions ie left to right then up n down, whilst doing this I've found hold the ss at an angle to the direction your going in between 45 and 90 degrees, I also keep a small margin trowel to hand and if I see a miss just use a bit from the ss blade to fill it and pass over the area again,I like to then go once over with the s*p*r*lex and it leaves a lovely even coloured Matt finish,I'm still experimenting with the method but so far so good.(y)

I take it that was the St blue u used
I didn't think u could finished as well on ceiling with it,it's quite hard to get the pressure as u would with a trowel, but I'm with u on saving time as well as your arms
