Do you not get on with the 1200 blade? For some reason (sod knows why) alot of plasterers have a big hang up about new trowels .. At 22 years old then using it for the rest of your career will no doubt save your body from getting totally mashed up.. It's a no brainer.
Sometimes use it if the wall is big and clear but most my jobs are small rooms compared to site , also feel have more control on 600 does what is needed .. Tbh I think a lot of the people who have tried and then said they don't like speed skim have probably jumped onto the 1.2 or 1.8 and had a few goes then chucked it to the side because they didn't get the benefit of using it as it was to big. On some of the speedskim videos on youtube the older videos some guys have the 1.8 metre ones going sideways on the flattening off with the top of the blade just touching the ceiling line but reality is you have to come down from ceiling line or edge to get a finish with any trowel used.Do you not get on with the 1200 blade?
I know what you mean with having control, I only have the 1200 and like you say if there's a few sockets, lights, cables etc it makes it a bit awkward, I should really have got the set with the 600Sometimes use it if the wall is big and clear but most my jobs are small rooms compared to site , also feel have more control on 600 does what is needed .. Worth getting 600 and 300 with a few replacement blades (2 or 3) I try keep it clean as well.I know what you mean with having control, I only have the 1200 and like you say if there's a few sockets, lights, cables etc it makes it a bit awkward, I should really have got the set with the 600
