Refused membership or induction on to my builder and no explanation why

I would've thought they take anyone on with public liability insurance and who's able to foot their bill. Weird to be honest

No worries mate, don't come across cuntish.... to be honest I was surprised they accepted me so easily...as far as I can remember there was about 12 questions I had to answer on different bits and bobs, things like how to prep a high suction substrate and if plaster was drying to quick what would I do, what backing plaster would I use in x situation....then just got a mail the next day to say application accepted....no idea why you not accepted....i know it sounds daft but a non plasterer is reading and accepting application so maybe if you get too technical it goes over their head and just gets a reject, try answering the questions like you're explaining it to your mum

You dont have to confirm your public liability to get on, it gives the option but not essential

@themucky1 its worth another go mate, you're established so probably do ok for work but it was a godsend for me and not just little jobs like some say, ive had 2 full house reskims, just on a 10 day loft job and had a fair few 4-5 day jobs off it...you also tend to get some local builders on it wanting a new build or two doing

I just packed in playing the xbox. Up untill 4am then fuxked the next day. No more games. Its good at the time but that online gaming is addictive. Takes over your life.

I could never get into gaming... I play COD every now and again and after an hour I am bored

@Lodan I resly like you, HOWEVER sadly this what is totally wrong about the building game/plastering...

As in somebody goes on a micky mouse course and couple of weeks later, driving around with a shiny van saying plastering and advertising on my builder etc.

Totally understand your desire to change occupation and the need to put food on the table but its totally wrong.

Complete charlatans I mean let's be honest your never going to say to Mrs Jones well to be honest love your only my second third fourth or whatever job.

The whole idea apparently with my builder is that the customer should be able to use a proffesional vetted tradesman.

What about some poor f**k*r that has an extension or something built by someone chancing there hand its plain wrong IMO.

No offence @ lodan

I'm not going to defend it, it's nowt to do with me how they run their website....It's feedback based and each feedback has the title of the job you did so if I was having an extension built I'd choose a tradesman with positive feedbacks on that job or very similar

Maybe needed to have double shotgun and double speed sprint mate I used to love it when everyone spawned they were dead before they saw me :numberone:

Point I'm making though is that they shouldn't be able to advertise on there in the first place with no works history/ proof of competence.

I thought that was the very essence of the site in the first place that all people are vetted and were supposed to provide references etc?

Don't get me wrong I'm not naive enough to think that references can't be cooked up, but at least it shows willing.

Anyway its nothing personal against yourself I just think that its misleading by those sites if they don't even vet people.

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned I dunno

Checkatrade is the only one that does checks, think they do an onsite visit and need references etc....mybuilder just a few questions but you could google the answers if you wanted....ratedpeople is nothing just got to agree to pay the monthly direct debit....i understand your point but the whole thing is they are like trip advisor, rating and feedback based...i imagine a few negative reviews and s**t people soon disappear

Ahh right my misunderstanding then...

Not a fan of the old do a couple week course and out calling themselves plasterers myself, but I know men with their level 3 Nd 25odd years experience and rough as f**k. Can't coat remotely evenly and skimming awful. Scrim shows, fat marks and holes everywhere. Swings both ways.im sure there is exceptions to the coursers being rough chancers. Lol. In fact there is too many rough bastards in our game full stop, be it from improver/chancer/courser/or just a couldn't give a f**k b*****d. Makes it look bad on one's take pride in their work.
