If you had 2 56m2 rooms to do, what would you do? I put both lids, then to walls in one room and then the other walls in the same room, about 70m2 in 3 gauges that slow? Or just steady?

personaly mate i think thats more than enough for 1 day!!!!

in fact it would be my PB lol!!!

zombie

it all depends on what material you are useing! i may have floated the walls first then skimed the lot to save all the washing down

Cant remember the last time i did 3 gauges in a day................maybe im too slow...............:RpS_unsure:

quality comes first always lads !!how many times you rushed to finish then wondered hope that last hit was trowelled enough on a friday !! I personally never rush now quality counts and leave the job spotless and i mean spotless ! then you have advertised without trying ,times are tough give your best and you wont go wrong .....more hast less speed .

if your gonna do 70m2 in 3 hits! Get yourself 8-9 bags but make sure one bag is a bag of speed:RpS_wink: .... Do it in one hit :RpS_thumbup: and home feet up for 4 bells:RpS_biggrin:

Quality is always there mate no mater what meterage i do as for twitching o dont use a corner trowel either not for me them things.

My reputation is built on quality speed and effiency and i wouldnt put that at risk for the sake of a bad job a good rep takes ages to build a bad one no time at all

I know yam gonna laugh but biggest job i've done was 4x5mtr ceiling, 1coat of thinnish bonding and 2of multi, took agood 9hrs (mind i did go off and do a burst pipe elsewhere whilst bond dried) came backdid skim, was chuffedas fcuk and earnt a good wack that day, wentback few days after for paint. But reading of 40,50,60metres and "am i fast enough" makes me wonder? Am i fast enough lol.......... I do a mean kitchen, bathroom fit ;)
just glad plastering day in day out int mytrade.

agree artsan 2 gauges enuf ....5 bags each hit set up n ext day homed fuc doin 3 if u cant earn wage doin to wats the point 3 just slavery to make a days wage then have to set up need to be home for at least 5

Spanky, You're NOT slow but there will always be someone out there who is faster than you. If you came across another spread who said that he can do 150 m2 in a day, would that inspire you to work even faster? Look after your health, and strike a good balance between work and recreation :RpS_biggrin:

I have done three hits a day all my working life and still do today when we have the work.wrecks you in the end, but the two hits a day is for my retirement ..I made plenty doing it too..

4 hits a day one week but I wanted to finish the job as it was a trip and a half, younger man then, would not countenance that now...

Personally I do 3 because I like to have time for a smoke and a brew, surely if you just doing 2 and getting off at 2-3 then you working solid for 7 hours?

Always quality before quantity, I just hear on here everyone knocking out some serious meterage and wonder how in 2 gauges? We can all do it on decent straight long walls etc but do you still do high meterage on standard 50-60 m2 rooms?

me old dad always was tough on us all 3 of us boys plasterers...... and 3 girls not plasterers !!!he wasnt that hard ffs ....but he always said your work is your signature in life and thats what poople will remember "he never could spell" so its my lesson to you poeple "FFS " i take after mi dad leave a good job and mention the plasterers forum and ya might get a T shirt .or K ring ,or paper clip ....times are tough.

exactly my thoughs malc if i cnt earn my money in 2 hits im doin something wrong........buuuuutttt on the otherside of the coin i can see why the site boys, spunky for example does 3 hits because the meterage prices are soo crap at the mo they have you by the balls really

we always done 3 hits, 7.30am to 5pm, normally a refurb two bed flat in two days @ £2500 supply and fit, we done three a week..My thoughts then were that a living wage was not going to feather my nest, happy enough with ticking by now on day rates but the in far exceed anything mentioned on here. If you make a living wage all your life and only that what are you doing to do for funds in the down times, inbetween times, injury times, old age times...

If your asking your probably not quite there yet. Quality is everything. Split it to 3 sets if need be better to be there a little bit longer and probably get recommended to their friends and family for doing a stand out job. Speed comes but quality should always be there.

Spanky, It sounds to me as though the more difficult areas are slowing you down. You should view them as mere technicalities and each section should be approached in the same way. For example, if you can't remove a socket, then it's two semi-circles or four outward strokes. Every time you use the same technique to solve a given problem, you will reinforce that concept and it will naturally become second nature. A technique is only mastered when it becomes effortless. For example, when you ride a bike, do you have to concentrate on balancing? :RpS_biggrin:

I agree but let's be honest here quality and plasterer doesn't always come hand in hand... Half the spreads out there are ruff as, I haven't met a spread that does council work for instance that can leave an exceptable finish never mind an A1 finish.

Quality wasnt or isn't an issue, it was wether I spread enough per gauge which I clearly don't from the comments. I think I will push myself on 2 gauges and report back ;)
