My poor Larry hAs had a runny nose for weeks, now it is bleeding . He's under geneal anaesthetic on Tuesday for a nose flush thing. Gutted

In 1983 when I did my leaving cert in Ireland (A levels) in England my top CAO course of choice in Ireland was the 7 year veterinary medicine degree. To do a degree in medicine was 5 yrs, I didn't want to do that. Now I'm plasterer. Gutted

My cousin spent 7 yrs training to be a vet. Did it for about 10 yrs then gave it up to train agility dogs and compete

Hope Larry is ok mate and nowt serious? All the best for him from my lot

He's had his visit to the vet, flushed his nose, x Rays, blood tests, when they hear you've got insurance they milk it. Nose flush thing didn't work, now they want him in again for a specialist vet to put a camera up his nose while under anaesthetic. Up until now it's about £900, probably gonna be the same again next time. Get your pets insured guys, help your local vet live in style.
Thanks for the concern though @aspotofbother

Blimey no stone unturned then eh? Hope they do get to the cause though and it isn't serious. Keep us updated.

Update. The blood tests and nose swabs revealed that he has E. coli in his nose and a fungus in his sinuses. More antibiotics and today they drilled a hole in his head to flush out his sinuses with anti fungal stuff. He's home now with one of them lampshade things on his head plus more antibiotics. Back to the vet on Saturday for post op check (cheque maybe) and another vet visit a week after. They say it should work

Word of wisdom to prospective dog owners. GET PET INSURANCE.
Mine cost about £150 for the year (£6k cover) but I'd imagine the bill must be over £4k now

That's a bit of a palaver, poor pooch. It's unreal how much is the vets are charging.
Me dog ate an Easter egg, took him to the vet to get jabbed so he can barf up the stuff, cost 290 @10pm.
One of the Mrs horse had lymes disease cost like 4k to get it treated. My little boy would be devastated losing our dog.

Sorry to hear that mate!

Dogs are like family... I've got a Great Dane and I'd feel lost without him now he's like one of the kids [emoji28][emoji28]

at least you know he is,n't suffering , you can bet hes looking down on you from the great out doors heaven

On the bright side though theres no more hoovering his f**k**g hairs up like this wankers! Link Removed

Look at him! He knows he pisses me off dropping hairs everywhere but the missus and kids like him

Sorry for your loss mate...my jack russel just had his eye out last week....he's 15 so anasthetic was a real concern....its so hard for the vets to get the dosage bang on.

Don't let it put you off another one, I know loads of people who dont have another one because the loss was so traumatic but for all the years of happiness it must be worth it.
