heard from a guy today who works for probably the biggest plastering contractor in the uk and who do a lot of t+p that it might be getting banned by certain contractors due to health issues there plastering work has gone up by 80% due to this

i aint naming them but they are stacked out and spunk they are only interested in the uk i had 5 phone calls from them today

it aint a rumour i got this from the labour manager but its only certain main contractors at the mo but its due to the fine dust from sanding i was told dont worry about work next year

they are shitting themselves cause they cannot get enough good spreads my mate is on one job three gangs are there with a 180 units to go at and that is an average size job for this firm

What are there rates Gary?
2.50 for skim hardwall can be negotiated cause they got no c**t who can do it i got the bloke up to 7.50m2 on a staircase then said i would think about it bet he rings me tommorrow

Champion. We only do taping when there is nowt else cause we ffffkin hate it..:RpS_thumbsup:

Good, i'm pissed off with taping, mainly because of the sanding, and the repetetiveness of it. The problem is, all these pennypinching companies like Persimmon, Wimpeys and the others that have the majority of their new builds taped, is that they aren't going to want to pay any more to have it skimmed. As is repeated time and time again here, unless you plasterers stick together and tell these greedy c.unts that you are not prapared to work for taping rates, they will always be someone that will.
On the flip side, there are now sanders that eliminate over 90% of the dust, that can sand both large areas and tight into the corners, plus Tape and joint will always be needed for the larger commercial jobs where skimming isn't practical.
I think i'll hold off putting my tools on Ebay for a bit.

its the fine particles of dust that hang around after the sanding they are more worried about tony not the tape and jointers themselves plus this firm has some good tapers one a woman who is mustard who has worked for them for over 20 years

Is that Baris mate?

Hope its true we will cream it in with the Ritmo and the Bg spray finish. Makes you wonder if they knew about this hence why they developed this new system

i herd that 15 years ago.it was not the dust from sanding.the boards back then it was the fact speed taping did not leave as good a finish.that would mean all boards skimmed.the way it used 2 be when it was grey side out.hope youre right m8.they will strugle 2 find decent spreads who can do 2 coat work.but that would be a good thing.hope its tru.

You just might be right Steve as I was told by a BG rep a while back that BG were going to really push plastering over jointing in the future especially solid plastering and this was then confirmed by the guy we spoke to at the BG tour.

I love two coat, that new hardwall formula is great for ploughing on, the other stuff was like spreading chewing gum but still much better than bonding coat, I cant see this making a massive comeback tho, wheres the labour to do it, eastern Europe?
