ive been over the moon with my nissan primastar..........air con...parking sensors.....drives like a car...excellent economy per mile.....cd soundsystem the b*ll***s good space.....and has been reliable apart from front steering arm busting...but drove it over humps at proper speed fully loaded so blame myself on that one............but would have a vw sportsline in a blink....think it may be the surfer in me tho lol..........
Same as,working in welshpool next week hope the gearbox lasts out

Agree with casper...transit is the way, i've got a 2006 - 125 and its quick even fully loaded, i've got mine racked out. I've never had a situation where it hasn't been upto the job - great van. If I had the money i'd go for newer version - with electric mirrors - sat nav on board.

Eight trips to the merchants for enough coving for a 4 bed house then.

Not with a T5.
The best van

I'd get a T5 Ian. Maybe a LBW.

yes but to drive this as you can see you cant have any friends!

do you reali work on ur own? i could not do that

I do most of the time. Fcukin easier that way I like having laugh at work & that's fine if your on daywork.
But if your on a price you can work how you want & got nobody slowing you down etc.
I'm always arguing with meself though!
Nearly sacked meself Friday i was an hr late to work.

Don't know what all the hype is with the vws...they are way too narrow, the curves make them look feminine and they are well over priced. Good as a camper imo.

Do you never get in touch with your feminine side then?

I wouldn't have anything else but a VW. Yes they are expensive, but their residual values are high too. Build quality is 2nd to none and they don't rust.

Oasis - I prefer to work on my own. I can have my tunes on without upsetting anybody and aren't waiting for people or dropping them off. Why would I want some c**t with dirty work clothes sitting in my van anyway - putting their mug on my dashboard and dropping crumbs everywhere?
I use a couple of subbies now and again, but do most of it myself.

TBH, the Transit is probably the best van for a plasterer. You can load it up and chuck all your tools and crates etc in, and not have to worry because 'it's only a Transit'

I have never liked transits. The metal is wafer thin, they rot out and the engine sounds like it came out of a tractor. My mate has a new one and when he starts up its so much noiser then mine.

Just my useless opinion though

Hold on a minute vdub boys. Have any of you two tried a new high spec Transit? I suspect probably not. Like you guys i was a VW fan and then i tried my current van. My 140 has everything i need van and car wise. As for VW residuals? yeah, sure. You will get an extra couple of grand for it in a trade-in........but it costs more initially!!!! People are so blinkered when it comes to the Transporter. Sure they have better metal treatment than the Transit, but nothing that waxoyl wont solve! The driving position in the VW is excellent BUT what's the hard foam cushioning all about??? Not the most comfortable. Sit in my transit and it's as comfortable as my sofa AND it's heated! As far as noise is concerned? I haven't even noticed!

Sorry Tony but the Transporter is only a van. Just like the Transit. When i had my T5, which i owned for 4 years, i chucked all my gear in the back. I still chuck all my gear in the back of my Transit, only i can chuck more in! lol and there's a nice steel bulkhead to keep the dust out. It even came with a special hard wearing rubber floor fitted. So no need to worry about mess. Smashing!!!!

I've just had a look around and this is the biggest tranny I could find \/

sorry still dont think mr sprayit would get his ego in a swb panel van , no matter what make

transit by a mile, new ones are like driving a car bought a new 110 trend last year[third one in a row ive had],ive owned vws vitos but never beaten a transit, cheap to service great to run heated screen cruise control etc etc,buy a new van pay reduced tax, its a no brainer the way i see it its your main tool of the trade is a van and i spend a lot of time in it so why drive an old banger.
theres a reason why transits are the market leader with around 80% of new van sales

hey church you are a mean bastarrrd. im deleting you from facebook.
think i will go for a T5. looking at this thread transits are cheap, they rust, and they are worth nothing second hand

If the VW's are that fcuking good......why o why dont all the gyppos have them then??? I'll tell you shall i? Because the Transit is a bigger, better, workhorse and it's cheaper to buy in basic spec!! T5's are over priced. I have everything in my transit and more than most things in any T5 and it's a few grand cheaper. Transit all the way for the building trade. VW if you want to be part of the "look at me, i'm driving a surf bus" lol

cor, calm down casper .... just because you bought a rot box dont mean you have to throw your dummy out the pram babes x

No rot on my 09 plate. I only keep vans 4-5 years. I'd be very surprised to see any rot, given the fact i take care of it. When i got rid of my 5 year old T5 last year it was starting to look tired. Most working vehicles will after 5 years lol. It's the mechanical side that kills it for me in the "ICON" Dub. Parts were expensive. Luckily we don't have pikeys in Scotland, so i don't see any driving Transits. Oh, i ve yet to see another van the same spec as mine. It's a wee bit special lol

you do have pikeys, its just that instead of caravans, they live in houses and call themselves 'scottish'
