Just wondered if the guys here have made many contacts re getting work /hiring plasterers ..Its always good to have contacts, I get offered work that I have no knowledge of and I used to turn it down, now I would find someone on here, most plasterers I know like to receive but never to give work out, is that the case here or not...?

I've not been on here very long at all so can't really comment. I have said I'm available for work and a couple of fellas have said that so an so are looking for someone etc, which I appreciate.

plus it's not the best time of year for work I don't imagine anyone has an abundance of work so they need to give it away.

I have a fairly big job in the pipeline (90 flats) and if it comes through and I needed any spreads I would defiantly come here to find them.

will be interesting to here from some I the other more established men on here

There has been £100,000's of work passed about on here.. you just gotta know when and where. It gets passed to regular members first as I think its a loyalty think...

You get out what you put in :D

Hi Guys

As with everything in the world of work - it is who you know and not always what you know!!

The more you post, the more you find out and get trusted...... You will soon find more local guys to you will come along and get to know you.....

There are a core group of guys on here, then a huge number of semi regular posters......... not to mention lurkers...... But these are all all in a state of flux!

Yes work gets discussed and talked about - and general public and builders come on looking for help and labour - it is better to be one of the regular guys on here when these things come along!

I work for one of the sponsors, and YES! there is work from this forum, and it DOES get shared about if guys need extra help on a job.... you'll make some friends and get trusted if your honest and help / show / talk about what you can do (as well as what you might want to learn...)

Good Luck guys!

I put work on when i can and im always using new fellas. Are there not to many spreads on here around stourbridge dudley way.

But again if im stuck first thing i would do is chuck a post on here.

Does that include one coat spongers.:RpS_laugh:

If i ever manage to get busy again i would deffo look on here for help as most of the T***s i know have let me down one way or another at some point. And the thing with people on here is if they want to talk about plastering in their spare time they must be at least half serious about work. As for geting any work, not yet but compared to the hard core on here i am a relative noob and quite unknown but have put myself out there as available and have got to get back to another member next month fingers crossed. As already mentioned i think the more you involve yourself the more other people will involve you but this is the place to be to learn and evolve as a plasterer. But one thing for sure if you dont put yourself out there it definatly not going to happen for you. KEEP MOVING FORWARD AND NO SURRENDR

Love the spirit Steve, a couple of years ago (like many others on here) we were turning work away and subbing lots out. Passed so much work on to people in my area and rarely get any work back let alone a thank you are a little drink. I make it part of the game that I always put a drink aside for someone that passes me a decent job. Given up on all that now so I will be definitely posting any future work on here when (not if) we get busy again. Just got to ride out the storm. :-)

me too mate but its the thick selfish ***** who don't give a fook about anyone else and who can't see past that days beer money that will stab you in the back (the kind who are your best buds till they see a chance to **** on you)
i had work coming out my ears a one point and was always more that fair with my "mates" in the end they all took the piss and nothing ever came back my way. lesson learned on my part all be it a costly one
Know one ever heard of a finders fee? I've always worked on that presumption

I think if those who are overrun can hand it to those that are quiet on the understanding that its quid pro quo, I think most people on here have ben generous in the past and have seen no return, its a shame really, this forum could or is a great conduit for change, share and share alike , no return of work leads to a black list on the qt of course... I got 3 jobs at the same time last year from the same firm, one /£17,500 one £7,500 one £13000. I could only do one and lost one but gave away the other, I could of easily offered them up here to some local spreads...

I found Beddy on here a couple of years ago and we have worked together on numerous jobs over that time. My life has been shat since that bleak day when he first came to help me.

haha found him like he was a stray, you say ur life is shat ever since but steve used to be slim haha

ive met and worked with some good lads off here, and as a result made some good contacts.
and ive put work up on here and advertised full time vacancies on here.
theres some real knowledgeable chaps on here and the bullshitters soon get found out, but you keep learning,
there are always new techniques coming to the fore particully in the rendering world and its a good medium to share info with other fellas in similiar positions to yourself,
plus its something to do on an eve when the mrs is watching eastenders.

been new on here as you probably realise, I too have learned stuff and ways and means and I picked a trowel up firstly in 87,I have little knowledge of new plasters and I am at this full time. If I get busy again and I will ,I will seek people out here to take on jobs from me or direct from client once they are willing to help me or others in return..

I've used guys from here and they have used me too and so far its all gone well. there good renderers and always help me out with issues I have with my machine ,I also like to help people out when and were I can so the forum is a good place for me .
