Thistle spray finish

I know if it was just me doing the whole process from start to finish im sure that the quality would be just the same with time.

We think that it will almost double the amount of work our three man team would do. Its a combo of the machine and spray plaster that will do this. So im sold!

The old man also said it was like Carlite and wants to get some on some Hardwall so you could well be right essexandy.



Im getting a Ritmo and a pallet of this spray finish anyway so we will let you know how we get on :RpS_thumbsup:

only thing iv found a pain with it is the filling out round beads and frames. the finish is probably 80% of 2 coat multi but when painted it looked fine.
 
i questioned that and was recommended to coazt these first thing with the waste from setup

No sorry Nick you must be mistaken, I've read all the blurb from BG on this product and there are several quotes from totally impartial professional plasterers saying that the finish is actually superior with this spray finish compared with multi. I've always been pretty pleased with the finish multi gives so can't wait to see the marked improvement:RpS_confused:

Charging per meter for this? Do you charge less due to the fact that there
Is less labour involved?

Down the price per meter for this as in there eyes there will be less

One of the main reasons I'm lashing out on a machine is because not many people can or will buy a machine to spray the finish which means that if a client wants it they're going to have to pay for it or if a job has a spec for 2mm of Thistle Finish plaster well the spray gear is still just that. Clients will only be in a position to try to grind the prices down if a decent percentage of spreads have machines and that's not going to happen for a long time if ever.
Well that's my take on it but of course I could be way of the mark, probably the best guys to answer are the guys spraying MP75 as there are still relatively few spreads doing so.

I would say yes, but they always try and knock you down and there is always someone else prepared to go in cheaper just to get the job.

Think of the amount of people doing a Venetian plastering course though Flynny, for a fairly low outlay on training and tools you're away whereas with the Spray Finish you've got to lay out about £5500 minimum to be able to do it. Now from what I gather you can still get good money for the Venetian even though there are a lot more lads able to do it, so why would the prices for skimming go down even lower because you're using a machine that has cost a lot of money and still needs maintaining?
 
The venetian isnt cheap it would cost around £3000 for the course when you take into account the cost of the course, tools, two weeks wages whilst your there, accomodation and if you live a distance also fuel im not including food coz youve gotta eat anyway.
The venetian costs what it costs to do, so does skimming, what the course costs you and also the price of the machine doesnt come into it coz the customer is not arsed about that. A lot of people can do venetian but a hell of a lot more can skim with or without a machine so your prices arent gonna go up but what i think the lads sayin is if your able to cover more (not proven on skimming) metres in a quicker time a contractor is gonna think "wait a minute these guys are makin too much im gonna squeeze them either tighter" and in some cases lads with machines will do it cheaper coz they can cover more the same as a quicker spread will do it cheaper than someone who is slower.
 
i think the price is the price. i dont think a lot of people care how u put it on, just what it ends up costing. if some1 said to me uv done it too quick drop ur prices, then i think u would have to tell them where to go. but in theory, in this climate, if a skim set up machine gues is desperate, and can get more on, then he may well drop his prices to guarantee work. but i dont really see people being able to work for much less than what they already are

already had this from a few nob heads, so i said why the **** am i going to spend 10 grand to save you loads of money????

we can and will undercut but only if i chose to not if its expected
 
the big gain is that with this system is I can say we will do that house in 2 days and the painters can start the day after.

And i did think the spray finish was of better quality the multi, but maybe thats because I finished it :RpS_thumbsup:

Yer i mean if they have already had a stupid price. We wont be driving prices down any time soon. Stupid prices are stripping real plasterers of a decent living. People need to get paid for doing a tough, skilled, dirty and frankly horrible job which will **** your body by the age of 50. End of!


Sick of seeing plumbers and sparks who turn up in new VW transporters, not breaking a sweat then getting paid s**t loads without the client batting a eye, but we meant to work for sub £3 a meter. screw that. Im 28 and have no pension or anything like that setup, i need to earn a fair days wage to live a decent standard of life.

Maybe we should all strike like the public sector do every other week coz we are not giving them a big enough pay rise. And its these dicks we are building the houses for! grrrr

No flynny you're not listening for a start andy and currier might have pair of b*ll***s unlike yourself .....andy said it could happen if everyone had a machine which makes sense IF it is quicker in the meantime there will be lads skimming by hand on the same site and I'm not sure if you do this but what alot of subbies do is talk to each other and the first thing that comes up is the price.....

I just can't see how a machine to apply gear inside or outside with out having to mix up with a mixer, put it on the board the spread it on the wall can possible be a bad thing??? Am I being thick here?

I've seen how much this game has ****** my grand dads and my dads bodies over the years so even without the other benefits that I think it has being fit and healthy untill old age has got to be worth it.

Plus it's just s**t hot, end of and if I didn't do it now and it takes off and ive missed the boat i will always regret it!

I'll be honest Flynny I'm not totally convinced that the machine will be quicker for all skimming, but I've decided that if we don't take the plunge and give it a go we'll never know and I want to give my son the chance to be as versatile as possible. I think the best chance of the Spray Finish saving considerable time will be on ceilings, but I could be wrong, it may turn out to be quicker all round once we're used to it. And if doesn't work out at all, well it's only money isn't it so I won't be that bothered.
